I never met him, but I know that much about him. I also know that his wife Jennifer Perillo - a food writer, editor, recipe developer, and mother to their two daughters aged three and eight - loved that man beyond measure and would move heaven, hell and everything in between to serve him another piece of that pie. She never will. This past Sunday evening, Mikey Perillo collapsed to the floor and died of a heart attack. It happened too cruelly and swiftly for Jennifer to even have a chance to say goodbye or tell him that she loved him one last time. He'll never laugh, sing, hug, dance with his daughters, or sit down to one of his wife's lovingly home made meals again. In part one of a series of videos from the conference, moderator Addie Broyles of the Austin-American Statesman, Tampa Tribune food writer and master Top Chef Twitterer Jeff Houck and L.A. Times food editor Rene Lynch and I discuss How to Leverage Traditional Media and get on a Food Editor's Radar - essentially how you can get your fabulous bloggity self on our pages and screens. Meet today's featured bloggers and blog: If photos and posts throughout the food blogosphere are to be taken at face value, every single household in the Western hemisphere is chowing down on porn-perfect Fluffy Ricotta Pancakes (made of course with leftover homemade lemon curd you had languishing in the fridge #duh #winning), Meyer Lemon Pizza with Goat Cheese and Bacon and Quadruple Chocolate Pistachio Cupcakes on the regular. That's lovely for you. Can I come over? I'll even bring bourbon, 'cause I know even I won't screw that up. |
