On the heels of news that Paula Deen's upcoming cookbook had become a best seller on Amazon.com, Deen's publisher - Ballantine Books - has announced it will not publish the book.

The book, titled "Paula Deen's New Testament: 250 Favorite Recipes, All Lightened Up," was set to release in October 2013.

Random House spokesperson Stuart Applebaum told CNN in a statement:

"After careful consideration, Ballantine Books has made the difficult decision to cancel the publication of ‘Paula Deen’s New Testament: 250 Favorite Recipes All Lightened Up.'"

The announcement comes after Deen admitted to using a racial slur during a court deposition in May. Deen has already lost a number of her business deals, including Food Network, Smithfield Foods, Wal-Mart, Caesars Entertainment Corporation, Home Depot, Target and drugmaker Novo Nordisk.

The first person to cast a stone better have a perfect record. The only one that I know was perfect was Jesus. Paula at least owned up to it and apologized. That is better than ANY POLITICIAN. God Bless Paula. She has brought me many hours happiness.

We have now come to publishers censoring based on their own concepts of civility and morality. If that is the case then what they do publish should make us fear for the future of what they consider good for society, civil and moral. Maybe what the right wingers are saying has some truth.

What I love is that her recipes are still on the foodnetwork website. Just made her brisket that is the top rated recipe.

This story is getting old. She will find a publisher, or set up her own website that you pay for recipes....

More "politically correct" dumbing down of America. I wonder if all this would have happened if Deen were Black?
