While you're frying up some eggs and bacon, we're cooking up something else: a way to celebrate today's food holiday. We're jingling all the way to the punch bowl - December is National Eggnog Month! Beat the holiday stress (Shopping! Cooking! In-laws!) with a big ol' mug of eggnog. Traditional eggnog recipes include eggs (beaten until frothy), sugar, milk, cream and nutmeg. If the kids have gone to bed to dream of dancing sugarplums, feel free to spike it with bourbon, brandy and/or rum (just keep an eye on grandma!). Be sure to have your flannel pajamas nigh though - the richness of the ingredients is conducive for settling down for a long winter's nap by the fireplace. Is it weird that I have never had egg nog before in my life?
Of course it is.
I'll take one, spiked with spiced rum and hold the nog. Please & thank you.
