Pssst! Got a sec to chat?

We are utterly thrilled when readers want to hang out and talk – whether it's amongst themselves or in response to pieces we've posted. We want Eatocracy to be a cozy, spirited online home for those who find their way here.

Consider the daily Coffee Klatsch post as your VIP lounge – the primary comments thread for readers who'd like to chat about topics not related to the articles we're running. That way, everyone knows where to find each other, and each post's comments section remains on topic.

My Goodness...I'm out in the boonies of Iowa for a day and a half, come back and two of the kids in the group are sick. Suck it up people,it's winter time. Especially our Head Nurse who should know better. Hey Jerv...need a small favor please? Since I'm running, can you put up the virtual Eatocracy Christmas Tree this year? I was gonna ask Sir Biddle but,you know how he gets after drinking a couple Scotch's. He helped Truth put up the tree last year, ended up stripping down to his underwear, wrapping himself in garland, prancing and dancing around the Lounge and then throwing the icicles up into the air and trying to catch them on his head. I've seen the UTube video...It ain't pretty. I figure Pop's can help by holding the ladder and your drink as you put the ornaments on. Oh, and remember..save Dolly Parton till last,in case the tree starts leaning she can balance it out. Thanks Lil' Buddy.

Here's a video of Biddle's boodle from last Christmas's shamboozle. This was right before he stripped to his underwear. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gU53VlysfnU

Good day everyone! I'm going to walk to the store on my lunch break...who needs something?

One can never have too much scotch.

I could use another box of Kleenex and some cough syrup.

Skip the cough syrup unless you are into tussin. Go with a Hot Bourbon toddy – 2 shots of bourbon, squeeze of lemon juice and a good dab of honey. Drink it at your bedside, just before you climb under extra covers for full effect. Guaranteed to work. This recipe was told to me by my high school bus driver, that man knew his medicine. It works for me.

My latest alternative cold cure is a hot bowl of miso soup and a good sushi dinner with plenty of pickled ginger and Waaaaasabi. That'll cure just about anything except the blues. It does put a hurting on the blues.

Good morning all! I hope y'all are feeling better than I am. On the bright side though, Mary Shannon has arrived in her sunny and warm destination and seems to be enjoying herself. Well earned!
And it is the kind of day for Mr. Zimmerman and friends...

I think MicG and Jdizz would suggest that the dude in the photo break out a shizzle-straw and suck that coffee up.

I know you lived in Charm City for some time, but how often do you get down to Wash DC? You seem to have plenty of first-hand knowledge of a lot of culinary enjoyments from our area. Just wondering from your "Gifts for people who like to cook, host, read, eat and drink" thread.

Hiiiiii! I was there recently, but a lot of DC food folks come to NYC. Which things where you thinking of?

Rappahannock Oysters and Caroline's Cakes are both very enjoyable! Just don't eat them together.

Next time you are in DC, drinks are on me. We can get The Witty One and JainaJade to join. Maybe Jerv will drive his jalopy up from Richmond but that's a stretch for him.

DM me on Twitter sometime and enjoy Vegas!
