Pssst! Got a sec to chat?

We are utterly thrilled when readers want to hang out and talk – whether it's amongst themselves or in response to pieces we've posted. We want Eatocracy to be a cozy, spirited online home for those who find their way here.

Consider the daily Coffee Klatsch post as your VIP lounge – the primary comments thread for readers who'd like to chat about topics not related to the articles we're running. That way, everyone knows where to find each other, and each post's comments section remains on topic.

Hello all. I got to see my friend who's in the hospital (the one who had the baby) yesterday. She's improving, but will need a heart transplant, after she's healed enough that her body could accept it.

Jdizzle's 2nd of 3 three-day weekends in August is over. Pulled about 3 bushels of weeds out of one section of rock bed around the house and took two kids to an old man's horse stable for a little free labor on Friday. Hung out and grilled steaks and burgers on Saturday night. Had a fun time on Sunday, a tree that was planted on the side of the house when it was built about 7 years ago had grown up to the roof. Problem is that it was planted directly in fron of the electric meter and other incoming wires and the like and also growing up into the way of the DirecTV dish. Took five hours to delicately dig it out by hand with a garden hand shovel, cut some of the tougher to get roots, and transplant to the front of the yard. That was fun, too, as the dirt in the front yard is horrible and was like trying to dig a 2' wide by 2' deep hole in ice. Capped off the day by making awesome salsa from garden veggies NGF got from her dad's house while I was wrestling the tree. Tossed in a can of chipotle peppers in adobo sauce for a nice smoky kick to the fire it already had.

I have my preparation H ready to go for later just in case. I haven't been that productive in a long time. HA!

Better send a case of Prep H to the SF 49ers after the way the Texans manhandled them. Back to the drawing board.

Well, keep in mind that next up for the Niners is Denver, who looked pretty underwhelming this weekend. I am NOT convinced taht Manning is the answer.

Besides, the Niners are WAY too liberal to win this season. Until they get their heads straight on taxes, I don't see them making the playoffs...;)

It was a pretty mundane performance. Of course, I will remind you the Texans only scored three points against the Niners starting D, and vice verca. It was once all the scrubs went in when things really started falling apart. And the officiating continues it's lockout trend, for BOTH teams. Sheesh.

Good morning all. How was everyone's weekend? Looking at upper 80s all week, which will finally be nice after an insanely hot summer.

Now if anyone needs me, I will be preparing a nice Romaine salad for my friend Joy Behar...

Good Morning my Brother......throw some Indiana cantaloupe in the salad for good measure. :)) I also saw where Willie Nelson was hospitalized in Denver-must have been the Clean Mountain Air and the Texas oregano that gave him breathing problems.

      What's the story?

      August 20, 2012 at 10:40 am | Reply
      • angrybabykitty

I FB messaged it. It was long. But for everyone else, the TO stood by while a guy 3x my size was attacking me and took pictures and was playing on his phone. It was all I could do when it was over not to beat the TO. He lied about what happened too and that's a huge no no. Too bad for him I had my recorder on and two witnesses backed my story up.
