Got my first side of beef this past Saturday. It's a unique feeling to open the freezer and wonder what to have for dinner. It's like being at a grocery store. Hamburger? T-Bone or Sirloin steak? When should I make that Prime Rib? I wonder how the short ribs will be? Perhaps a nice afternoon soothing meal with that stew meat?
For the record I also opted to get the beef heart and tongue as they were no extra cost. Can't wait to play with those!

Oh, beef tongue tacos Salvadorian style....marinated, thin sliced and something worth chewing on.
You must have a stand alone freezer. I did slow cooker stew weekend befoe last. Awesome. Nice to be able to hang out a little more. Have a great afternoon!
Sounds a lot like bagging a deer. We always had them butchered, but the popular choice was always for making stew. Would like to do steaks some day.

We got the liver, too. (gross). No one I know likes it, but we figured if we couldn't give it away, we could cook up a nice and tasty snack for the dog on occasion. I'll take anything that's no extra charge and find a use for it.

Not really, a half-sized deep freezer. in addition to the freezer half of the fridge. Looking at my post, I think I should clarify: This is 1/4 beef, not the whole thing. That's way too much, LOL.
Comes up to something 200 pounds of net meat. I like. Comes out to somewhere around $2.50 – $3.00/pound on average. Better than the $9.99/pound for t-bones at the store, I'd say. Not to mention the lack of pink slime.

Our former babysitter loves those "Teen Mom" and the like shows. She was absolutely heartbroken she couldn't find a way to be on the show.
Our local "news" paper did a story about how there was a whole rash of local pregnancies when MTV was filming. I don't get it. The girls always wind up quitting school, the guys prove themselves to be worthless and the kid is the one who suffers. Would make me want a vasectomy after watching...

Oh I hear ya on that one! Sad when I have to turn on the a/c at 6 a.m....hope it's only this week. We had 105 at our house at 6 pm last night.

Yeah...I stay as close to our several fans as possible and then when it finally gets just too stuffy in the house we turn on the AC. Then around dusk we throw open every possible window to let the cool night air in.
I grew up in Phoenix so this is not really a huge deal, I'm just decades out of touch with real heat. Classic August.
My sympathies to you both as well. Please stay hydrated.
We have our A/C on most of the year with only a few weeks of open-window weather.
I remember it well. Open air season was a time for celebration! I just had to book a trip to SRQ for 8/27, ugh, right smack in the middle of hurricane season. There isn't enough hairspray in the state of FL to get me to move back.
Nice way to put it. Hadn't thought of the hairspray factor but I totally get it. I use way too much anyway....
Whee doggie! Yes, you remember it well: from about ... now ... thru Halloween, any breeze you enjoy is most likely attached to tropical storm or hurricane (insert name here).
Our next door neighbors have a chihuahua that keeps the elephants away while they're working in the yard. I'll see if she can do the same for hurricanes while you're here. ;)

Doing well, and I hope you are as well. You have my empathy for the inlaws situation you face. Been there, done that and it is rough. Like marriage in and of itself is not already difficult enough, you know?
I am doing much better. The inlaws situation is always pretty draining, but thankfully I won't have to see them again for awhile. They have been a sore spot between myself and my husband before, but now we are (mostly) able to ignore them. I have learned to shut my mouth and not bite back, as it does no good.
