It started as a fun writing project - 9-year-old Martha Payne decided to blog each day about lunch at her school in Scotland, rating and photographing each meal.

Six weeks and more than 3 million page views later, her "NeverSeconds" blog has become an Internet sensation and provoked a minor political controversy.

The local government body - the Argyll and Bute Council - banned her from taking pictures in the dining hall, citing "the unwarranted attacks on its schools catering service which culminated in national press headlines which have led catering staff to fear for their jobs."

Its leader backtracked Friday in an interview with BBC radio.

Hahah, first they are upset they are getting hate mail for their lunches, now they just opened the door for MORE by trying to stop her!

I was watching the ABC Evening News. They showed healthy lunches being dumped in the trash in Los Angeles California, because the school kids would not eat them. Kids want pizza, hamburgers, french fries, anything that has grease and no nutritional value. You can't always blame the schools.

That's fine. Then they just go hungry until they do eat. Serving them junk food instead isn't the answer. Not only that, but "healthy food" doesn't have to be bland and yucky. People too often associate healthy food with lazy chefs. People who cook the carrots until they're mush and steam the chicken until its a piece of rubber.

Kids eat what they are used to eating. My niece doesnt like greasy foods, or processed foods and prefers vegetables and fruit over chicken nuggets and fries. The reason kids throw away healthy foods is because they never eat them at home, and most kids will choose junk over health any day.

Well, the lunches here in the US ain't any better. In fact, before I started reading, I thought this was the US! Our kids get all the "commodities", junk that's left over. Most school lunch programs wouldn't know a fresh, raw veggie if it bit them in the @s$. Just because she's a kid doesn't mean she should suffer low-quality anything in silence. You go, girl!

I think it is amazing that a 9 year old consistently blogged about her schools lunches. This student should be praised. I wouldn't call it an attack on the schools catering service. The catering service should only feel that way if they know they are not giving it a 100%.

My hats off to you Martha Payne! Keep up the good work!

I think it's great that a 9 year old was motivated to do this every day!

I used to be a teacher, and if this is what motivated a kid to write, then do it!
