There's a hole lotta happy going on. The first Friday in June is National Donut Day! Started by the Salvation Army in Chicago in 1938, the day honors the Army’s ‘Donut Lassies’ who served treats and provided assistance to soldiers on the front lines during World War 1. To honor the 75th anniversary of Donut Day, the Salvation Army is teaming up with Entenmann’s Bakery in New York to make the largest box of donuts ever created. If you can’t make it to the NYC celebrations, be sure to stop by your local Dunkin Donuts or Krispy Kreme, which are also participating in the festivities. Dunkin is offering a free donut with any beverage purchase, and Krispy Kreme is offering a free donut of any variety. Or you can celebrate your local independent donut shop. National Donut Day: This is a cop's Christmas.
Can't find my favorite or second favorite anymore. They aren't produced anymore:
The original Dunkin'Donut, which was a spice plain donut/doughnut (we use both spellings up this way) with a handle.
A local, long-gone bakery's squash donut/doughnut was #2.
Currently available favorite: Tim Horton's Canadian Maple.
I didn't know this holiday had such a lengthy history. Glad to know that my diabetes inducing diet has a purpose. WOO HOO Nat. Doughnut Day!!!
America, where even the obese people get their own holiday...
Why don't you go pound rock salt somewhere.
I think food snobs like this only pound organic, free-range, locally sourced, cruetly free sea salt. Rock salt? what are you, some kind of Neanderthal?
But yet stupid exists without a holiday.
I'm trying not to avoid National Donut day without screwing up my diet. This article has some good tips to help me. http://goarticles.com/article/National-Donut-Day-Is-Today.-Lose-Weight-Quickly/6576878/
There is only one true way spell it, and that's "doughnut". Dunkin' took a shortcut on the spelling and now everyone thinks it's "donut". No wonder I like Krispy Kreme better.
LOL...ironic – Crispy Cream
At least we will know where to find a cop if we need one today.
