Pssst! Got a sec to chat?

We are utterly thrilled when readers want to hang out and talk – whether it's amongst themselves or in response to pieces we've posted. We want Eatocracy to be a cozy, spirited online home for those who find their way here.

Consider the daily Coffee Klatsch post as your VIP lounge – the primary comments thread for readers who'd like to chat about topics not related to the articles we're running. That way, everyone knows where to find each other, and each post's comments section remains on topic.

I just want to share with ya'll since I wasn't able to post yesterday @_@ I would say the thing that would scar a child the most is my child hood. I was walking to my grandparents house after school one day (mind you I was in the 3rd grade at that time) and when I got there I didn't find them. So I being a child who was still couping with Seperation anxiety at that time go looking for them. It just so happens I walk in on them expressing themselves. T_T That day I learned that what has been seen can't be unseen.

Before you use it to make a sundae, make sure the "sanitized by ___ " label is in place. You just never know how people use that stuff. Last Summer, QOE & wends were using it to ... cool off ... skin-on-stone-style. 0.o

Here's your Swingline ... and here's a fresh margarita, no salt. No, your desk is over here now. We had to move you again – and it's not in the dungeon. Last time I left you down there you tried to set it on fire.

^_^ and you know I love me some GOOD CHAMPAGNE!!! haha ooh the Dungeon? but aren't there creepy roaches down there and even worse, I think they that squirrely looking guy Milton is down there still.

    February 15, 2012 at 1:33 pm |
    • AleeD, Thread Dominatrix@Starman

No way. I run a clean, tight ship down there. The ColdStone & the Brass Pole are sanitized regularly. If I can manage to keep Truth from picking the lock every weekend, we keep a fairly comfy Strat-o-lounger down there, too. Purely for recreational purposes tho'. That reminds me ...

... someone, I won't say who, was using the be je sus out of the barber chair last nite. So, if anyone needs me I'll be in the dungeon, resetting & tightening up the bolts.

Melissa & Steve learned early in the process that they had the same shyster divorce lawyer. The same lawyer who lost each of them their respective boats in their divorces and somehow turned up with a brand new one for himself. They talked, planned & decided to get together and .... explain to him how wrong this was.

Pictured here, Melissa & Steve victoriously laugh and raise their cups of coffee in praise as they watched the lawyer's boat

Since I had such a wonderful Valentine's Day yesterday then had to turn around today and apologize for some accidental boneheadedness, your sentence will be surprisingly light, Mr. Grin. Twenty minutes of repetitive Rebecca Black (or is that redundant?) is in order. If I've done my math right, that equates to watching this video approximately 6 times.

        Starting .... now!

  21. Sir Biddle@Question of the Day

How do you folks deal with someone in the office who is a major pain in the azz? Said person is not a threat to me nor sits above me in the org chart, but is what I call dangerously ambitious. A colleague is leaving and said person is circling the area to "just be willing to help with anything that may come up". She has mastered the art of both Polyanna and kill-them-with-kindness. 99% of the time I ignore, but she is still annoying as hell.

    February 15, 2012 at 12:22 pm |
    • Jerv@SirB

Wow, dangerously ambitious, kindness killer and super optimistic. I'd make her an ally that I keep at arms length and stay out of her way.

      February 15, 2012 at 12:31 pm |
      • MicheleG™

        I agree! Good strategy.

        February 15, 2012 at 12:33 pm |
    • Evil Grin

Chances are if you notice she's being an irritating brown-noser, others will too. You may not have to do much. But if you guys both have overlapping work, you could just quietly make sure you get the bulk of the work (or the more complicated projects) done first. Then make sure your boss notices who's hovering around asking for work, and who's actually doing it.

A mallet to the head works wonders as well.

      February 15, 2012 at 12:34 pm |
      • Sir Biddle@EG, Jerv, MG

There is no way I am going to make her my ally. Smart enough to not make her and enemy, but I'd cut my junk off with a rusty hack saw before I made her an ally.

She is extremely insecure and needs constant validation in everything she does, so I'll just continue to ignore the brown noser.

        February 15, 2012 at 12:42 pm |
      • MicheleG™

But if she is even only a "modest" ally you might benefit form snippets of gossip she might divulge. That couldn't hurt.

SIDEBAR: please don't cut off your junk with even a clean & sharp hacksaw. What would I have to aim at during wh ip practice then?

      February 15, 2012 at 12:53 pm |
      • Sir Biddle@AD

Thats the positon I have generally taken with her as duties do not cross at all.

    February 15, 2012 at 11:07 am |

One of my questions about pharma is the naming conventions. Why, oh why, are drugs called such contorted, weird, unremarkable but exotic sounding names? Then there's another name below the "commercial name," in parentheses. It's pretentious and annoying though I know it has to do with copyrights and stuff.

But could the pharma companies take a shot at simplifying this? 2 syllables instead of 8 perhaps?
