Pssst! Got a sec to chat?
We are utterly thrilled when readers want to hang out and talk – whether it's amongst themselves or in response to pieces we've posted. We want Eatocracy to be a cozy, spirited online home for those who find their way here.
Consider the daily Coffee Klatsch post as your VIP lounge – the primary comments thread for readers who'd like to chat about topics not related to the articles we're running. That way, everyone knows where to find each other, and each post's comments section remains on topic.
Sobh Be Kheyr, Chums. Sorry I haven't been around much (again). I hope the poor attendance punishment isn't too severe.
I'm ready for daylight savings time to roll around again. I can use the longer days.
Ok all, I am out. Will talk to y'all in teh a.m. Stay safe!
DING DING DING! We have a winner!
Yes, my brother proposed to his girl on February 29th 2008. Leap Day! Only after the crying and everything that we realized what day it was. So, I'm guessing he has something REALLY romantic planned for that day. I think he's planning to go back to the spot where they engaged or something...
...In fact, someone posted the entire proposal on Youtube...
I am so smart, I am so smart! S M R T....I mean S M A R T!
Wow. Bet that doesn't happen very often *snicker*. Good thing they didn't decide to unknowingly elope the same day. My dad was mere hours away from being a leap year baby. This year he turns 80 on the 2/28.
Afternoon Crew. Happy V Day to all the Klatch Ladies.
Happy Valentine's Day to you, Mrs. Biddle and Liddle Biddle, too!
Oops....got a little excited there :)
I can finally post again. ^_^
@Truth: Everything I can say it amazingly swell and excellent. I am loving it. haha
@AleeD:Thank you oh so very much I do appreciate the welcoming.
@Truth & AleeD:Well it started off at the Keys, went to mexico and from there I took a side expedition to island of the women or Isla de la mujeres.
That sounds deelightful. Weren't you on a cruise? Ahhh the life.
Isn't Isla Mujeres the island of nekkid women?
Pics or it didn't happen!
Now THAT sounds like my kind of place!
am I still a lurker?
You lurk fine to me.
what do you mean "still?"
So does anyone have any special dinner plans tonight, cooking or going out? Hubs delivered beeeutiful flower to me yesterday and I sent him a heart shaped pizza, so tonight we will grill up some NY "Strip" steaks and have salad to go with. I might bring home an ice cream cake or lemon-raspberry cheesecake....maybe some bubbly.
Now, that sounds NICE! You GO, girl!
We have no plans for today or t his evening but later this month we are going to a local Indian Casino for a special "Dinner" and overnighter.
We're going to make dinner together for a change. He's getting a big box of Godiva Dark for dessert.
Restrain me...Godiva Chocolates? YUMMMMMMMMMMMM
Hmmmm, please bring the leftover Godiva in tomorrow. I have some Dove Dark hearts at my desk, sinfully good.
"do not meddle in the affairs of dragons. for you are crunchy, and good with ketchup"
That is one of my top 5 favorites. One I used to have on my car was,
"If you don't like the way I drive, stay off the sidewalk."
My favorite is "Keep America Clean – Eat Pigeons."
i saw that the other day and cracked up. the visual just rocks! :)
The other one I like is, "If it's tourist season, why can't we shoot them?"
yes! i see that one a lot when i travel. :)

Happy Valentines day to all you happy couples dating or married and for those swingers happy Singles awareness day. ;)
Well hello, hello and a good afternoon to all you fellow Klatschers out there. I'm finally back from my ever so lovely vacation and must say it was very much needed and enjoyed.
How goes it Dogstar? Where did you journey to?
Hi & welcome back! Where did you go again?
We have The Smartest Ladies in the Room. I'm Proud of You All.
why thank you Sir. :)
Between the "Love Bites" thread and DJ's newest post, I've gotta get this song outta my head:
No more guesses on my little riddle?
I thought you explained it in your response to Truth.
No, I just clarified the riddle itself after his misunderstanding. It still stands as follows:
My brother and his wife are going to celebrate their 1st anniversary of being engaged even though they've already been married for about 2 and 1/2 years. How can that be?
Where's the smartest man in the room? Unless they got married, divorced and are gittin' hitched again.
What are they engaged in?
Answer 1: They got married before they were engaged?
Answer 2: They were married to other people?
Answer 3: They build a time machine and went forward in time to exactly 1 and 1/2 years ago, where their alternate selves were already married and they got engaged that day and then killed off their alternate selves and took over.
All hilarious and creative answers, but no.
Anyone else have any guesses? Or do I just tell you? ;)
They got engaged on Feb 29th 2008
Well hello, hello and a good afternoon to all you fellow Klatschers out there. I'm finally back from my ever so lovely vacation and must say it was very much needed and enjoyed. Happy Valentines day to all you happy couples dating or married and for those swingers happy Singles awareness day. ;)
Okie dokie folks, since today is all about "celebrating" your love...have any of you been emotionally scarred after catching your parents "celebrating"? I only ask because I'm pretty sure that Hubs and I guaranteed Thing 1 some time in the therapists office after this weekend.
Oh gods yeah. I'd rather think of dead cats than that.
Bravo for a truly pithy comment. Well done!
Hard to top this one though I need bleach for the eyes.......or my mind.
anecdote (not me): Little boy walks into parent's bedroom while they are noisily "at it" (especially Mom) and walks up to bed at which point he whispers into Dad's conveniently close ear: "I think Mommy's had enough."
You Perverts !! Ewwwww !!
It's not our fault! We thought he was asleep and I'm pretty sure the blanket blocked most of his view. It's not like we had made it to home base yet but we were well on our way to rounding third.
Nope, never did. Yet I'm the only one of us who believes our parents "celebrated" more times than they had children. My PITA sister walked in on them once, tho. She was about 17. Now that I think about it, it explains alot. ;)
Odie just sits quietly in the corner until we are done...hope he is not traumatized! Personally, never caught Mom and Dad (big ewwwww), don't know that they actually ever did the deed after I was born??
TMI--I can't drive Now.
Ok gang, I am getting to the point of desperation here, what with The Office Narcissist (TON whining. She is now on the phone to a girlfriend complaining about being single today (all she did when they were together was complain about him)
So here is the Question of the Day (QOD):
What is your favorite Whiskey Tango Foxtrot moment in past relationships? Mine was that I used to be involved with someone who wanted me to put the cat in the basement when she came over. She was not allergic or anything, just did not like the feline. I told her that she will be sleeping in the basement before the cat did. Needless to say, the cat and I are still sharing the bed.
Every moment she is talking is one of those...
Had a BF years ago for whom EVERYthing was ALL about him and him only. If he could not be the center of attention on ALL subjects, he was profoundly NOT interested. And he did not have enough smarts or depth to really add anything to the subject of the moment, either......erk...color him Gone. LONG gone.
Back in my college days, I had been dating this guy for about 6 months and we were Christmas shopping at the mall. He sees his ex-girlfriend as we're walking thru the food court and he immediately stops holding my hand and puts about 2 feet of space between us. Then he says, " Oh, my bad, that wasn't her." and tried to grab my hand again. He did not get to unwrap any of my presents after that point.
QOD: Finding out that the idiot I almost married when I was 18/19 had gotten the neighbor's wife pregnant in the summer he had moved to Utah to live with his parents (while we were together), but thought it was ok to not tell me when it happened and just come back to me when he moved back because she had miscarried (he told me when he moved back, three months after the fact).
Ding, ding, ding we have a winner! Wow, Mil, just wow.
Had an ex in college who decided I didn't need my pain killers (prescribed for kidney stones and other renal related problems) and instead got my refill and proceeded to snort the bottle...while drinking. Oh, did I mention he was a card carrying member of NA and AA?!?
Needless to say relationship ended as soon as I was well enough to string a sentence together. He then showed up at cousin's apt and played out the always fun "if I can't have you, nobody can" game with his 9mm. Cops were called, restraining orders were filed, and turns out he had actually jumped bail in a different state so....
Ding! Ding! Ding! TIE!
I'll repeat this here...
I broke up with a BF right before VD because he was getting so needy and clingy, that way to avoid the hoopla he was sure to bring that day....well he went ahead and delivered a 6 ft. handmade Valentine to my back porch....I was speechless and frightened.
Two answers.....They have shots for that and a well placed 9mm shot in the groin area brings a lasting Holiday memory. :))
Wow...you ladies have dated some winners. When did you all come to your senses and start dating nice guys?
Obviously they haven't met Fine Gentlemen like ourselves.
For myself, it wasn't any one thing. It was an evolution. I lived each day, hoping the next one will be better. Sometimes it got better, sometimes it didn't. When it got to the point that the bad days outweighed the good, I made plans to make it on my own.
When I realized that I can't fix them...
Met my gorgeous Hunka Hunka Burnin' Luv guy over a decade ago. FAB!
That would have been 30 for me! 22 years ago... :)
Just putting in my .02¢:
My first husband preached ad nauseum about exercising and eating right. I joined his thought train and practiced what he preached until the day he told me he wondered what I'd look like at X lbs (which put me in the underweight class on the BMI chart). That was the beginning of the end.
Did you reply with "I wonder what you would look like handsome"?? What a plick!
HA! No. At that point, I had worked so hard to get where I was that I was completely stunned by his comment. He did eventually get his wish: I became so small that I completely disappeared from his life. Thank you for asking. Yes he was a self-sentered plick.
Married for 12 years with no children by choice – mutual. When I caught him cheating with a woman who had a young daughter, he had the nerve to tell me he never wanted kids until he met this woman and her daughter. Needless to say, he is my ex!
I am soooooooo glad that everyone is having a Great Valentines Day...except for Queen 'cuz Things 1 & 2 are sick again...Truth gets to take target practice in his office ( an awesome top management PERK ) , and the BEST thing of ALL....Only 5 and one half more Days Till the Best Holiday of the Year....National Cherry Pie Day. I think I'm getting a little excited.
Happy Valentine's Day everyone...
I went with my fiance to one of the few local French resturants and we were silly and got the "Cupid's" two person meal...
Lobster Ravioli with Blush Vodka Sauce, Caesar Salad, Passion Fruit Sorbet, Chateubrian ~ Roast Filet for two, Selection from Dessert Cart (I got a triple chocolate fudge/torte and he got a slice of raspberry Linzer Tart), and a Sparkling Rose Toast for two (Jansz Sparkling Rose)
Wow that sounds incredible! Sounds like you had a swell time.
Wow! Wow! Wow!
Jerv & MicheleG – it was pretty wonderful. :)
This just in. "The funeral for pop superstar Whitney Houston will be held Saturday at her childhood New Jersey church, according to the owner of the funeral home handling the arrangements." That is all.
I hope all the drugs in her body won't contaminate the chemicals in our drinking water.
Lunchtime in VA. Slow cooker pork bbq on rice.
PorkALicious.....pass the Soy sauce please.
YUM – I almost made that this last weekend, but then I got real lazy and didn't feel like going out to get supplies Saturday...
Hello everyone! Hope everyone is having a nice Valentine's Day.
Which reminds me of something: My brother is celebrating something special in two weeks: The 1st anniversary of his being engaged to his wife...even though they've been married for 2 years. WHAAA???
Maybe you misunderstood and he is really celebrating the anniversary of being "enraged" at his wife...?
No, I don't think that's it. They are very happy with each other, though the wifey is enraged at one of our neighbors for taking very poor care of his fence. That is another story though.
I know that they got engaged, waited a year and then got married. This past October they celebrated 2 years of marriage, but only just now they are celebrating the 1st anniversary of their engagement...
22 years ago today, a good friend asked me to lunch and brought me flowers and candy (chocolate covered cherries RH), married 5 years later on this very date as well. And the rest as they say is history. :)
ABsolutely FABulous! Sincere congratulations to you both! (((HUG)))
Yep, Hubs is Old Skool, Nothing but the finest chocolates to make a lasting impression. Congrats my special Friend.
Yep, hubs is OLD (skool)...it's funny because those are his favorite candy, not mine. Took him a while to figure out that giving a gift YOU like is not as appreciated as giving a gift that I like. LOL
Speaking of misdirected sentiments, hubby & I took a trip years ago to visit one of his seesters & to see his niece graduate HS. Her celebratory dinner was at a local lobster place because that was her favorite thang at the time. When we came back, a few months passed and it was time for my birthday. Hubby to me to a local lobster place because he swears that lobster is my favorite. While I enjoy it occasionally, it's not my favorite. But to this day, I don't have the heart to tell him.
Somebody shoot me...Please!
The Office Narcissist (TON) is here complaining about Valentine's Day, and whining that her latest BF just dumped her.
Does anyone have an icepick I can jam into my ears?
Hoo, boy. Here's some cotton for your ears. Hang in there...... You KNOW there are those out there who are dedicated whiners. It's a calling.
Congrats on the test, and here are some ear muffs. Funny that someone would break up with her right before Valentines Day...*rolls eyes* LOL I broke up with a BF right before VD because he was getting so needy and clingy, that way to avoid the hoopla he was sure to bring that day....well he went ahead and delivered a 6 ft. handmade Valentine to my back porch....speechless.
Cappuccino on the slopes? Nice!
Howdy ho from a "between rainstorms" MichG in "sunny" California. Congrats, Truth!
Once upon a LONG time ago I looked into becoming an EMT and I know the several certificates you must have are tough to get, what with all the tests you must pass.
When I drove school bus eons ago I remember tallying up all the test (20 or 30 to my best memory) and I had to have 4 certs: CPR, School Bus Driver's cert, Class B DMV, and a First Aid cert. (I drove 97 passenger Crowns.)
This just in. "The race for the Republican presidential nomination appears to be all tied up between former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney and former Sen. Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania, according to two new national surveys." That is all.
Good. Does that give the boot to the reptile in the running?
Good morning all!
Test went well and hit an 86. Now it is time to start on Pharmacology. Drugs, drugs, drugs...!
If you need a test subject or any advice on which to take, I can help you out!
Here's a different perspective on the day.
How do you feel about celebrating hearts-n-flowers day?
I completely agree with the article.
Good morning and Happy Valentine's Day to everyone. Thanks for the pointer Rich. Hate to waste good chocolate. Congrats to Truth on his exam.
What does everyone have planned for this womantical howiday? We're going to snuggle up over a hot stove and cook together for a change.
Too Hot Tamales...:))
There's actually something that's too hot for you? I'm surprised. ;)
I am running away to New jersey until this whole valentines thing blows over...
Why New Joisey? What's her name?
Things not going well with the GF?
Everything is fine :) I have to head up tonight for a couple of days for a client. I got her some small stuff that I'm going to drop off at her house later to suprise her and then we are going to do Fondue (her favorite) next week for the official celebration where I will present her with a modest piece of jewelry (diamond earings) and some pretty flowers from my favorite flower place (http://www.worldgateflorist.net – The best when it comes to flowers!)
Is the chick with kids expressing too much affection and want to get engaged? Feeling needy and clingy? Feeling smothered? Run for the hills!
She's a little weird but I like it. She has a habit of telling me that the way I do things is wrong, even though there may not be a right way. She doesn't seem to understand when I say that her way is one way and my way is another, and both are ok. She just gets mad and tells me I don't listen to her :) Then I repeatedly ask her, "What?" for the next 10 minutes.
I'm thinking that your virtual sister could use some diamond earrings as well.
Ummm....The store ran out of them cause so many people got them this year. And the internet is out too.
Happy Valentines Day Everyone! I see RicH is already sucking up to the ladies. Good man!
LMAO....Good Morning Lil' Buddy. A Man's gotta do What a Man's gotta do. :)) What's up in VA on this Lovely Day?
Cold and overcast. Gonna get rain on Thursday and it is then supposed to get up to the 60s for the weekend, All in the middle of February. Go figure. I just did some reading on the rapper named Nicki Minaj and her Grammy act. The photos are a riot. How about you?
WD and I are in Mobile...Light rain and in the 60's. Gonna hit the Breakfast table here in a bit. I heard from Truth last night and he passed his exam....Linda Lovelace must be a good Instructor. :))
Did he just pass or get an A? I thought SirB was his instructor, not Linda Lovelace?
He got a B+ so it must have been a tough test. He Done Good !! Poor Biddle,He get's NO Respect. HA !!
Yeah, from the sounds of his description early on, tough class. I couldn't stand being in a classroom again. My hat is off to him. Well dude, got a lot of work to do today. Actually the month. Til lunchtime, and don't let Cupid bite you in the azz!
HAPPY VALENTINES DAY to All of The Ladies in The Klatsch....Here's a napkin,You've got a little chocolate on your chin. :)
Thank you very much, kind sir. Same back at you.
Your Welcome and Thank You. WD and I will need to find a Walgreens tomorrow so we can scarf up the half priced chocolate covered Cherries. I Love those things...WoooooHoooo. :))
