Pssst! Got a sec to chat? We are utterly thrilled when readers want to hang out and talk – whether it's amongst themselves or in response to pieces we've posted. We want Eatocracy to be a cozy, spirited online home for those who find their way here. Consider the daily Coffee Klatsch post as your VIP lounge – the primary comments thread for readers who'd like to chat about topics not related to the articles we're running. That way, everyone knows where to find each other, and each post's comments section remains on topic. |

What do yall think about j+b's baby girls name "blue ivy" I think they put it together very well
I'm pretty much watching jersey shore right now and going to put a frozen burrito in the microwave :) haha. I'm gonna have a good night. :)
Ok folks, I am out. Everybody have a safe evening, and we'll all talk tomorrow. Be well all!
Hello everyone! Sorry I haven't checked in today. Things were hectic...
1. My car battery was completely gone and needed a jump.
2. Had to finalize a few things for the classes I'm taking this semester
3. Actually GOING to one of said classes.
Anyway, how is everyone doing?
Welcome back and give up the details on the trip!! Enquiring minds want to know...like me.
Might save that for tomorrow when more people are inclined to pay attention...
Your random afternoon humor:
http://notyourbestday.com/
Hilarious, ludicrous, sad, perplexing, baffling, funny, amusing, horrifying.....pick an adjective!
Sadly I had to work today. Probably have to mañana, too.
I'll bookmark it for future playtime tho'. Thank you.
I just opened up my salad from Fresh and Easy, my new favorite grocery store and lo and behold, it contained a fold up Spork! How cool is that!? I know, I'm easily amused.
Take a pic of it and post it on Tazer's blog. She'll love it!
I can't get to her website here, but here you go!

Spork!
Bent Spork!
Black Spork!
Broke Spork?
Betcha can't say it right, really fast, 10 times, after 3 beers!
Broke Spork Broke Spork Broke Spork Broke Spork Broke Spork
Broke Spork Broke Spork Broke Spork Broke Spork Broke Spork
(Maybe I should lay off the cold meds for a while.) ;)
Step away from the meds young lady... LOL It's a Handy-Dandy, Bendable Spork! Folds up to fit in a teeny tiny 2" celophane package with a teeny tiny napkin! :)
Eeeeek it's snowing!!! Which means that already bad DMV traffic will be a new level of hell if it starts to *shudder* STICK!
Yup, just started raining here in Richmond. It's supposed to rain all night and freeze. I see a sick day tomorrow.
Don't worry ma'am. What you see coming down is not actually snow, it is actually dandruff fallout from the District. Apparently everyone in Congress shook their big, fat, dry heads at once.
Salvete, chums.
How are you all this afternoon? The weather holding up for everyone?
Good afternoon....Flooding in Houston, tornados whirling around. I thought it was wintertime. Get to drive in it tonight too. WD is getting the scuba gear ready. How was the weekend?
I spent it mostly inside the Lair, doing quite little, now that I think about it. I believe everyone should take a weekend to catch up on their reading once in awhile.
WD in scuba gear. Somehow, I think she'd be good at the sport.
We're have a 70% chance of rain and high winds on Wed. Are you going to be in PCF then?
Yep, Good thing I'll be in Big Blue. Major highways, feeder roads closed due to flooding. Katy got 3 and a half inches in an hour and a half this morning. Over 4 and a half inches since midnight.
Cold here and gonna get rain by the evening. Miserable lousy weather. But the weekend was awesome. Got a lot of yard work done.
Got the yard work done just in time for rain and snow? 8)
I always rake up all the leaves, sticks and gumballs late in the year. 33 – 55 gallon sized bags o dat stuff.
LOL! I gotta ask: gumballs? Why do you have to rake up gumballs?
Are the gumballs you speak of simlar to "hanging brain"?
Ya know .... you would think .... I would have thought ... after the lesson in morbid curiosity from last week, I would stop looking up words in U.D. Such is not the case with "gumballs" ... d@mmit. Guess I'm just a glutton for
punishment. ~_~
HAAAAAAA!!!!!
You found some wopper definitions there, I was going for the one more commonly known as definition #1 for hanging brain.
HAAAAAA! Still laughing here!
Top of the afternoon E! Lovely Chamber of Commerce weather in the WCF thru Wed.
Just saw where 9 more Friendly"s Restaurants have closed in Connecticut. That is now a total of 16 in that state. I ate there once a few years back, not bad grub.
Yeah we have several in my nect of the woods. If managed correctly they are really good.
Yes, I was surprised a couple of years ago that the one Friendly's on Cape Cod closed up. A family destination like that seems perfect for a family, inexpensive restaurant.
I haven't been to a Friendly's since I was just a tiny Evil Smirk. As an adult, I always just assumed Friendly's was like Chuckie Cheese's without the skeeball, and with clown-themed ice cream desserts.
Maybe that's why so many of them are closing. I tend to choose other restaurants because I don't particularly like being around screaming children when unaccompanied by the creatures myself. Although, perhaps I will begin visiting Friendly's again when the Evil Niece has reached the ice cream consumption age.
Modest proposal: The moderation software script could be slightly modified to allow, for example T I T IN a word. The word "Subst it tution" without artful letter spacing should be allowed.
I realize that the mod bots are screening out vulgarities. But the code could be changed to include whole words in which certain strings are included. There IS a difference. There should be an inclusion in the script to allow for context, that is, simple word recognition. Not talking about subject or tone, just spelling..
Just a thought. Might take a load off Kat and SLT.
Good Morning Happy Clams! Since we are entering the best of the football season, my question to you all is what is cooking for the games?? I may have to try a Buffalo Chicken Dip again this year, that was darn tasty last time.
Morning Beer Babe......Gonna do a Dr Pepper Brisket, Hamburgers and Lottsa Beer. :))
Buffalo Chicken Dip?!?!?!?! Do share PLEAAAAAAAASSSSSSSEEEEE!
I have a Chicken Enchilada Dip that my brothers-in-law inhale. Speaking of enchiladas, I made some last night that were yumtastic to the nth degree.
Please share if you can...I loves me some enchilalas and if you can scoop em on a chip, all the better.
Thing 1 calls them "hada-hadas". I'll see if I can find the recipe tonight.
RH – Can that be Fed Exed?? The brisket, not the beer... ;)
SirB – There are several on the internets, but I've heard raves on this one...I used blue cheese dressing last time, very tasty. Scoopable Fritos, Pita Chips, or tortilla chips are perfect.
Ingredients:
8 oz. pkg. cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup blue cheese or ranch salad dressing
1/2 cup any flavor FRANK'S® REDHOT® Sauce
1/2 cup crumbled blue cheese or shredded mozzarella cheese
2 cans (12.5 oz. each) SWANSON® White Premium Chunk Chicken Breast in Water, drained
Directions:
HEAT oven to 350°F. Place cream cheese into deep baking dish. Stir until smooth.
MIX in salad dressing, Frank's RedHot Sauce and cheese. Stir in chicken.
BAKE 20 min. or until mixture is heated through; stir. Garnish as desired. Serve with crackers or vegetables.
Huh?? My recipe went AWOL!? You mean we can't post recipes on a food blog?? The irony... Sorry, SirB, you can google it, I didn't make up the recipe so nothing unique to add, although I've heard raves about this one from my morning radio show...
http://www.markandbrian.com/article.asp?id=2143330
I'll be making this this weekend. Thanks for the tip and here is the recipie from the weblink you gave:

Sometimes I truly believe we are purposely dumbing ourselves down.
I am curious what everyone seems to think. Is this appropriate yearbook attire...
http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/45925416/ns/today-today_people/t/teen-revealing-yearbook-photo-flap-its-artistic/
And to think that my father raised heck that I didn't want to wear a tie in my senior portrait...
"18-year-old Sydney Spies wants a future in modeling, and she figured she would make that clear with her senior picture in her high school yearbook."
Classy.
Welcome everyone to Crazyhorse. Brandi you're on the main stage.....Sydney you're up next. Make sure you tip your servers....they are working hard for you tonigiht!
I wonder if by modeling she means stripping and by stripping I mean newest girl at the Bunny Ranch. Nah, the Bunny Ranch is probably too high for her professional aspirations.
"I honestly think (the picture) describes who I am," I think she believes that. It's a shame that she doesn't recognize that the picture looks like it belongs in Playboy, not the school yearbook...
We didn't have a choice on ours, school took the picture and that was it.
I am actually somewhat torn. I HATED the conformity of school and absolutely hated having to adhere to rules if I did not see relevance. So I understand wanting to do one's own thing.
OTOH, it is a yearbook, and not a MAXIM magazine photo shoot. Given that young women get hyper seckhualized (here's to the modbots) already, I think that adding to it is actually pretty mysogenistic. She really comes off as saying "Look at me! I'm a huge bimbette!" Were she my daughter, I would want her to take some other form of achievement.
Two things I find interesting here though...The absence of the mention of any father, and that the mother is basically encouraging this. I would wager fifty bucks that this is a mother who strives to be the "best friend" rather than an actual parent.
Howdy ho..... I assumed that the ploy for Playboy WAS the not so hidden agenda. Duh.....
Truth: perceptive observation.
The absence of a father figure and mom trying to be "best friendzies" is mom's way of trying to overcome the dad's absence (if true). Then there's the "living through vicariously" subst it ution syndrome, and not so subtle shot back at the absent dad by allowing something he would emphatically NOT approve of.
My 2 cents. Pop psychology........
The mother said ""I asked her not to do it." Are you fracking sh ittin me? The mother should be telling her "no, you are not wearing that." End of story. You don't ask your kids permission to correct or raise them. Guess I'm just old school that way.
I'm with you. We were told what was proper & improper behavior or attire as kids.
This young lady has no concept of how adversely this is going to effect her future. At 18, she's legally able to do anything she wants. If that's why her mother is being a doormat about this, she scr ewed up. If nothing else, there's usually an adult on the school's yearbook staff. That person needs to step up and answer the question, "Is this the image of your high school you want to portray?
Amen to that sister!
Absolutely inappropriate attire for a school yearbook. And moronic lawsuit to boot. The school set out rules and this child broke them. Tastelessly. That's the end of the matter. If she wants, she could have a printer print dozens of sticky versions of the photo, and she can give them to her friends to stick over the real picture.
But, really, she should have more respect for herself as a woman. It's a shame that her mother has gone along with this instead of showing her that she doesn't need to pander to other people's hormones to feel good about herself.
Although, Sydney Spies? Refreshingly evil name.
And it's an easy jump to Sydneys Pie which is the name her "films" will be marketed under.
Ok Ladies, you heard it here last:
Denver
Houston
NYG
New Orleans.
Greenbay
New Orleans
Houston
New England
I hereby declare the winners this week to be:
New Orleans: Although the 49ers gold is very shiny, I feel like voting against the Saints would be cementing my place on the bus to Hades. Plus their fleur-de-lis is very pretty. And Drew Brees isn't half-bad to look at unlike Rottenburger who, hand to God, I thought was Refridgerator Perry from the back this weekend.
Denver: I still hate Tebow with the fire of a thousand suns but I'm sort of hoping for a Saints vs. Tim "I am the second coming" Tebow.
Houston: Due the Mayflower midnight move fiasco, I don't think I'm allowed to acknowledge the presence of a Baltimore based team.
NYG: Although I'm a big fan of the Packers cheesehead hats, I feel that at least one Manning should have a winning season.
WD and I have studied ALL the Stats so that we can go 4-0 this weekend. We are going with.......
NOLA, Green Bay,Baltimore and New England.
Let it be written...Please,Let it be soooooooo!!
Lets try this again......
NE 38, DEN 24
BAL 27, HOU 10
GB 42, NYG 34
SF 157, NO 0
New Orleans
New England
Baltimore
Green Bay
Quit copying off my paper, or I'll tell Ms. Kinsman.
Giants
Denver
Houston
San Francisco (just to be different than Truth!!)
My sister just called to tell me that my nephew will be part of the Super Bowl half-time show! Woo Hoo! He's in the drumline at his high school and they were one of the 2 Indiana bands to march in the Rose Parade last week. Apparently, drummers from several Indiana schools will be part of the half-time schow but they all have to sign confidentiality agreements so we won't know any specifics until we see the show. He's also grounded for using cell phone at school to call my sister and tell her the good news.
Maybe they will put a drum on Peyton and The Coach's head? :))
Congratulations to your nephew!
Does that Popsicle Pete commercial annoy anyone else?
Now its me doing the testing.
Hello?
Nevermind it works.
It's so annoying when the modbots do that.
Agreed. It would be nice if the modbots were more eloquent & specific regarding why we're being moderated. I would dearly love to know what goes on in the programming that make us change our email addresses.
It just makes you want to get down and bl ow Otto.
HA!!!
I'll leave blowing Otto or anyone else all to you.
"It would be nice if the modbots were more eloquent & specific regarding why we're being moderated."
That's the thing - it's software, possessed of no eloquence. We scan the pending queue when we have time, but man - it's a lotta work.
HA! HA! AleeD got her name put on the chalkboard by Ms Kinsman. No recess for you if you keep it up Alee!
At least she didn't whip out the Ruler or the dreaded "Spatula". :)))
Someone, i.e. a human being, programmed this software based on a set of parameters. Similar to the "you're posting too fast" warning, why couldn't the programmers write another pop-up that tells us when we need to change our email address? Or tell us what forbidden word we're using? Please know that my complaint is firmly lodged with the programmers, not the users. My apologies for not being clearer.
Kat, I do understand how hard you and your editors work to filter thru the increasingly growing quant!ties of spam, childish rants, insensitive jokes and ignorant tripe that readers deem worthy to post on your site. For what it's worth, I feel your pain and you have my sympathies. I deal with wingnuts like these in my job, too. ;)
Thank you both for the phenomenal job you and all your editors do to keep us in the food news loops and for putting up with our varied senses of humor.
I wrote a response .... it got moderated.
Just so we have a teensy bit of perspective - the blog has gotten 204,088 comments. On occasion, it's gonna hold a few of them back a day. That ain't a bad ratio.
Was that just today?
Wow! Does the number include all of the CNN blogs, or just Eatocracy?
Ah Kat wouldn't use the rulers or the spatulas (spatulae?) on me. She knows how much I'd enjoy that.
It does make me wonder what she would do ... ~_~
Hola Me Homie....Que Pesos?
Soooooo, I guess I have to post this,Tho it's a PITA.
@ 3-1.......Truth,Jerv,SirB and The Queen
@ 2-2...... RichardHead
@ 1-3...... Jdizz
SIGH....:(((
Which one of my teams lost?
You picked the Bengals...remember?
That's right. Guess I was wrong on the whole tigers eating people thing.
Yeah. Rough week on the picks. The Denver game stunned me. I picked against the Saints mostly out of hope. Big weekend coming up.
Your 49's may have some trouble with the ragin cajuns. Should be a good game either way.
We shall see. Niners have a nasty defense. Muhahahahahahahahah!!!!
I understand that you have a ratehr elaborate apology planned to me for this morning...?
Think again, Tiny Tim. It was simply a matter of me hating the Steelers more than your horse face.
Good morning, and with the wins yesterday, I do mean its a good morning!! Its a chilly 23 here and so far, the meeting schedule for today is light.
Good Morning....Guess I need to change the batteries again in the Magic 8 Ball. :((
Good morning, glories!
WHO DAT?
'Tis I, Queen of Everything...including NFL picks.
Test test test...
pass, pass, pass
Check,Czech, Loud and clear Lil' Buddy. What's UP?
For some reason I was being blocked completely from posting. I changed the fake email address and all is well again in the universe. (Except for that little fracker Tebow.)
Testies......One....Two...Three?
Hehehe...only two tes·tis here but not quite sure about Chaz Bono.
Klingons have 3 ... um ... don't ask why I know that.
Maybe Biddle has an extra penis for Chaz?
I swear you crack me up!
Good morning all...Brisk morning here in Denver, but a happy one. Tebow says Hello.
Morning Bro... Good game last night. Houston is in an uproar as Dummy Wade Philips announced he is interviewing with the Tampa Bucs on Friday for the Head Coaching job. A Real team Buster.
They're interviewing a bunch of guys. Are any of them surprises to the Nosepickers?
http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/7438946/tampa-bay-buccaneers-interview-brad-childress-monday-sources-says
How is it your boy who never threw for more than 170 yards a game suddenly throws 315 against some skilled defense. Good game overall and enjoyed watching it. Hate New England, so you better have Tebow and Jesus do some work this coming weekend.
Got to love Wade's timing...Way to buck up your team there pal...I've always liked NE, but I really think that Tima nd the guys will be waiting to slap down Josh McHoodie and company (videotaping, cheating stooge)
Morning Crew. I curse Tim Tebow and his blasted Broncos. Steelers were a disapointment in the final drive.
Morning Bro....On the Bright side, We still have Green Bay to kick some Butt. :))
Looking forward to this weekend's game as it will be a rematch of the 2008 playoff game. My wife and her family are huge Giants fans so this should be a nice family rivial as well. Lil Biddle is already rooting for the Pack!
Would be even better if both Green Bay and New Orleans won this weekend as I will be in New Orleans on the 21st for work.
That would be THE dream game of the year, maybe you can get tickets? Hey, try Willie Maes Scotch House for the BEST fried chicken ever. Gotta get there early tho. You can Thank me later. :))) WD gives it 4 Paws UP.
I know, that was a really good game but I still hate Tebow.
Cheapest nosebleeds are already over $300.
Also hear you on the Willies Chicken – a sure visit when there! I honestly gain weight whenever I travel to New Orleans, I'll be there a week. Ugh, ohh.
Good morning! Hoping to get MRI results back early this week so fingers crossed for good news.
Also have some delicious death by chocolate cupcakes for the group, recipe for which will be up on dancingveggies (dot) com tomorrow morning :- D
Good Morning and WD and I have our Paws, finger and toes crossed too. :)) Thank You for the treats.
Fingers crossed, hopes high and positive thoughts flowing freely.
Speaking of recipes, did you post your recipe for your brownie-stuffed cupcakes? I can't seem to find them on dangingveggies.
I didn't, but can. I'll try to get the recipe up during lunch since there aren't any pictures...which is why the recipe wasn't posted originally
Gotcha. Thank you. I've talked hubby into giving these a try and am looking forward to making them.
What's the MRI for?
I'm having some serious problems with my knees (and the areas just above) and I have a not so good medical history that includes bone cancer. So while the doc thinks I have early-onset Rheumatory Arthritis (wtf) he wants to a) verify the tissue/bone damage and b) make sure there aren't any growths lurking that the x-ray missed
MRI = Magnetic Resonance Imaging is to produce images of the molecules that make up a substance, especially the soft tissues of the human body. Magnetic resonance imaging is used in medicine to diagnose disorders of body structures that do not show up well on x-rays
(thank you thefreedictionary.com)
hmmm...comment awaiting moderation for some reason....
I'll try retyping in a moment once I figure out what I said!
Trying again:

Yikes. Hope all goes well with the test results.
Much love and happy thoughts headed your way.
Good Bordig Happy Klatschers! By bask is od and coffee brewin'!
How was your weekend?
Good Morning Sista'. Your cold is sounding better. Good weekend unless you were a NFL NosePicker. :( Sigh.
You didn't do so well on the NP's this weekend? Very sorry to hear that. Was WD having an off week or did you pick for a change?
Other than going out to dinner Sat. nite for a friend's birthday, I rested alot this weekend. Had tee martoonies with dinner, too. That place makes THE BEST caramel apple tinis ever. I'd have to be in a coma not to have one when I'm there. While I can't say it'll cure the common cold, I did feel much better afterwards. ;)))))))))))))
WD and I went 2-2 on picks. Those EVIL NYG's and THE Miracle Denver team put the KaBosh on our winning record. :(( It sounds like a fantastic dinner with drinks included.
