Actually, there's probably no little accuracy in the statement that the fact that Friendly's, Fuddruckers, Sbarro, etc., are not doing well reflects the declining middle class. In good times, they seem like a staple. $10-$15 meals on average, lots of kid's options. But when one parent has just lost a job and taken a new one at Walmart for a quarter of the pay, those things are considered luxury instead.
Amen to that.
