One woman died and at least eight other people were hospitalized after being exposed to an odor at a McDonald's restaurant in eastern Georgia, a police chief said Thursday.
Police and fire personnel were called to one of the chain's restaurants in Pooler, just west of Savannah, about 11:50 a.m. Wednesday, Pooler Police Chief Mark Revenew said.
Upon arrival, first responders found two people unconscious in the women's restroom and also "became stricken (by) an odor," according to Revenew.

Isn't the bathroom odor usually at a Taco Bell?
Jerv...I think you might be on the right track. My spouse had this happen once at a public restroom. They had apparently used bleach in the toilets, but not flushed them after cleaning. When ammonia-containing urine mixes with bleach it releases chlorine gas which can be very dangerous, even fatal. My mate experienced burning eyes, dizziness and nausea, and (thankfully) left the restroom immediately. Lesson learned: always, always flush the toilet or urinal before using if you smell cleaner, especially bleach.
To Alex_Rex :
My father is never home because he works every day from dawn to dusk to put food on our family table. Is that lazy or living a life of convenience? I am a high school student graduating with 2.5 years of college finished and an International Baccalaureate Diploma, while participating in varsity cross-country along with other sports and three clubs. I am part of this "new generation", but I am none of the things that you assume 'alot of Americans' are. Neither are my hundreds of classmates. There are some teenagers that are most of the things you have said, but not all of us.
"Finman22, Those americans you talk off are in the grave or almost there. The new generation that is growing up cannot claim many legacy and live off that. Harsh as it might be, a lot of Americans today are 1) Obese 2) Poorly educated 3) Intolerant 4) Lazy 5) Living a life of convenience .. so Shut it, take it up your chin and raise yourself and your family in the right way."
To Alex_Ray, I'm an American expat living in the middle east and I'm here to tell you that Americans, while we have our issues, are some of the most inventive, hard-working, enterprising people in the world. And people all over the globe happen to think so too. This doesn't mean we don't have a problem with obesity in the states - we most certainly do, among other things. But until you've traveled to second and third world countries (and even a few first-world countries!), you don't really understand just how incredibly innovative Americans are. Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, Steven Spielberg (who essentially invented the blockbuster film), Jim Henson, Fred Smith (the guy who invented FedEx), Martin Luther King, Jr., Mark Zuckerberg (you're on Facebook, right Alex_Ray?), George Washington Carver, The Wright Brothers (you've also flown in a plane, right?), Oprah Winfrey, not to mention millions of small business owners and inventors all over the United States. Also, the U.S. Navy SEALS are some of the most badass warriors in the world. So, while I know Americans have their problems (everybody does), we have a lot to offer besides fast food.
Sorry. I had the refried bean omelete earlier could'nt wait till I got home to use the toilet
So what? Stupid, lazy, fat Americans. I hope you all choke on Big Macs and greasy fries.
Mary, if it was not for Americans, a lot of the rest of the world would be in worse shape than it is (WW I, WW II, The Marshall Plan, Japan's rebuilt economy). As we say here in the US- Player, is that all you got? Yup, that's all you got. Which incidentally is not much.

I had to laugh at your pitiful ignorance. A country doesn't dominate the world economy by being lazy. The real truth is that today's generation in the US is the most educated, smartest and hardest working out of all preceding generations. As for the obesity issues...well, I am a grown man at 5'11" (180cm) 145lbs (65kg). In other words, I'm probably skinnier than you are. Besides that, the UK is quickly catching up to US obesity rates.
Also, if Americans were so intolerant, than explain how it even came into existence in the first place? America is THE MOST tolerant nation in the WORLD. It is a melting pot of cultures and beliefs. If the US wasn't tolerant, then there would have been no Obama, no gay marriage or the revocation of don't ask don't tell, and no affirmative action, etc...
Sorry, but "as harsh as it might be," you are truly an ignorant fool who can't see past his own two hands.
The woman that died was a good friend"s Mom who was on their way to visit their grandchildren. Obviously, compassion is not something you are capable of. Interesting that your name is Mary, Mother of God. My God is a kind, compassionate, nonjudgemental, forgiving God. You should try it sometime.
Wow, what a troll. You have no heart, and no soul. Time to come out of your basement and join the world of real people. I'm sure the woman who died left behind a family who's grieving for her.
American envy rears it's ugly head again. What a stupid statement.
Mary Mother of God, let me tell you something, Americans may be fat, we may be lazy, and we even may be stupid! But, one thing we are guaranteed to be is "FREE" to be fat, lazy and stupid if we choose so. GOD BLESS AMERICA!
What a horrible thing to say. And yes, a vast majority of Americans are far from lazy.
I bet some n00b employee mixed bleach and ammonia.
