Breakfast buffet: National toasted marshmallow day

While you're frying up some eggs and bacon, we're cooking up something else: a way to celebrate today's food holiday.

Pyros rejoice - August 30 is National Toasted Marshmallow Day!

Build a good old-fashioned campfire in the backyard or gather around an open flame with some skewers and a bag of 'mallows!

Today isn't just for celebrating the soft, chewy and mind-boggling treat that is the marshmallow, but indeed one of the best ways to eat it. If you're the mallow kind, there's nothing better than a golden, toasted marshmallow still warm from the fire. Slightly crispy on the outside and absolutely gooey on the inside, it's a little bit of heaven.

Eat it straight from the stick or slide it on a hunk of chocolate between two graham crackers. You can also indulge in a toasted marshmallow milkshake if you're feeling frisky.

And an even deeper query for the marshmallow connoisseur, do you just barely let it toast or char that sucker until it's black? However you toast, we salute you with our skewers and you're welcome to join the campfire anytime.

If you dunk the marshmallow in water first, it will get gooey in the middle before getting burned on the outside.

We love Toasted Marshmallow Day! BTW, no need to build a fire – it's just as delicious to toast a marshmallow over the flames of a gas stove. But be careful if you use a metal fork or skewer cuz they get real hot! http://www.plushpuffs.com
