Oh, another classic day on tap here...Just had to call 911 on a homeless guy who found his way to my buidling's north patio and would not leave. Stunk of booze, would not identify himself and could not walk. Paramedics just left. Poor guy.
It was Joy Behars husband,she'll bond him out in an hour.
About a month ago we had a middle aged dude curled up in our building entrance way with his head propped up against the brick coving. He was so out of it he could not stand so they put him on one of those ambulance beds and took him away.
Last fall we had a kid that could not have been a day over 20 sleeping on the corner sidewalk with three dirty suitcases.
Not trying to be a Patrick, but I could go on and on. It is truly sad.
I concur with you both...Substance abuse (of all stripes) is a bear. Everytime I see one of those folks, I try to remember that they were all someone's children at one time or another. Sad.
Thankfully, this guy will be getting some help.
Any advice for giving someone an injection? My friend just asked if I wouldn't mind giving her her daily injection while her hubby is away...
There are bruises to act as guides but I don't want to give her another one and know that a proper injection should not result in bruises as large as some of hers.

Good day chums. The Minions are baking today. I'm not sure if they'll go beyond bread, but fresh homemade bread is enough for me. Since all four of them seem to be having a ball coating the Evil Kitchen with flour craaack and eggs, I'm certain there will be many, many loaves.
So I've brought the first two in, with some butter from the local Amish* store.
*Technically it's supposed to be an Amish store, and while they do have some homemade items like furniture and butter, I suspect what they actually do is go buy bulk bags of candies and chips and repackage them for resale at a higher price. It may be owned by an Amish family, but most of the workers aren't, they just dress accordingly for work. Still, they have a few very good homemade or organic items that I can't get anywhere else. The butter and cheese is excellent.
So dig in.

@Kat the flippy thingie is only if you are on the main site. I'm a mobile user and still see it top to bottom first to most recent. I agree with the reasoning behind the flip though. That girl's comment was really uncalled for. Sadly, I didn't have the ingredients on hand to make the pie, but I was able to sit down with the whole family for dinner and a movie. I decided to be really lazy this weekend and did not attempt the ribs. Funny thing yesterday in reference to earlier article on cleaning the grill...we grilled on Saturday, then yesterday I was putting on some shrimps and hubs a burger. He said not to clean off the gunk left from Saturday!! Ewww, gross, but it was his burger. Then he committed the grilling cardinal sin and squished the burger down with the spatula. RH – I think he needs the grilling lessons more than me, so I'll give him my spot in your class.
Sorry,I only instruct the intermediate classes,which you attend. I shall send over my Sous Chef LaSquisha for Hubs...she swings a mean spatula.

How was the celebration weekend?
The weekend was nice. Hubs and I went out to dinner Saturday and then did a little shopping. It was nice to have some time to ourselves without the kids.
Well, many happy returns and I am glad you did not attend the state fair. That looked truly ugly. Many condolences to all families involved.

It's a little experiment. What do y'all think thus far? Our take was that it keeps things fresh, and if a story starts out with something rotten in the comments at the top, that can get flushed down the page and not color the experience for people coming to the story later.
I'm sure once I'm used to it I'll be okay. But a good idea to change the mood of an initial post by flushing that baby "down the page." Love it.

The traffic was a case of someone dying earlier this morning in the access lane and people on the regular lanes stopping to look, even tho everything had been cleaned up. Once we got past the accident people were going 70+ again. I understand that people have a need to look but seriously?!?
