Pssst! Got a sec to chat? We are utterly thrilled when readers want to hang out and talk – whether it's amongst themselves or in response to pieces we've posted. We want Eatocracy to be a cozy, spirited online home for those who find their way here. Consider the daily Coffee Klatsch post as your VIP lounge – the primary comments thread for readers who'd like to chat about topics not related to the articles we're running. That way, everyone knows where to find each other, and each post's comments section remains on topic. |

I too am headed out to Jacksonville and drop my taters and onions. Talk with y'all from Plant City in the morning. Stay safe and cool all.
Drop your taters huh? Is that what you are calling them now?? LMAO
Ok, I am out. Until manana, stay safe all!
It is 4:52 and I am just now eating lunch. Does anyone else see anything wrong with that picture?
Do you get moody like I do when I am particularly hungry?
Best line of the year: Tommy Lee Jones in "Captain America": "If anyone has anything to add, this would be an excellent time to keep it to yourself."
Yep, that pretty much sums up my outlook right now.
Um, you aren't sharing?
ducks golden tray flying at head
Er, what I meant to say was, you aren't having your feet rubbed while you eat? Shall I send a minion?
Weird that it chose not to italicize.
Send two minions, please. My shoulders are killling me too.
Certainly, my liege.
Not playing peekaboo (at least here)... just busy with my new tellers and trying to make sure they know what's up. Mustn't set a bad example! ;-)
You slave driver.Do you use flash cards? Talked to SeaBee? How's his new one going?
No flash cards yet, they're doing pretty good. Just trying to squash a little power play by another empl that is driving me insane. Haven't talked to SeaBee much since the new job, he's very busy but loving it!
For those who want to skip to the picture of me, SeaBee, and Tazer in my Eating Oasis-SF iReport series... http://ireport.cnn.com/docs/DOC-640968
At least, that is when iReport finishes processing the pictures. :/
Must not be done yet. It was stuck in a loop loading the page.
I wish they'd get rid of the stupid iReport information pop-up box. We get it. Don't need it to come up every single time we come across one. Since I regularly empty my cache and cookies, it pops up every single time. I avoid them when at all possible.
The interesting thing is that the page/tab I uploaded it from says that it's done.
Still giving my screen seizures. Sorry.
I tried skipping but it didn't work. Should I try Frog Jumping?
potentially stupid question: do you need to be a 'member' of ireport to view it? it keeps asking me to 'join'.
Double time!
Double time, but not Hammer time?
Oh wow... there's wasn't even a discussion of meat in the main article and the militant vegans came out to play!
You mean Jeann?
Yes, Jeann.... unless that's one of us causing trouble...
*sheepishly raises hand*
I knows it was you. I were almost certain, anyhow.
Ok. This is the weirdest food craving (for lack of a better term) ever. All day today I have wanted round food.
That's right, round. Apparently, it doesn't matter what the food actually is, as long as it's round. So I had a couple of burgers and a whole tomato for lunch. I foresee pizza for dinner, although if I cut it into slices, it will be triangular. Maybe more burgers? A flamenon? I'm not sure what I'll be eating. I just know it will be round.
This is so strange.
I tried to square dance in a round room....It was not pretty.
I imagine not!
peas are round... hah!! ;o)
Horrified
You're right, they are.
Please tell me I don't subconsciously want those tiny balls of yuck.
methinks your subconscious is trying to get you to eat peas... :) why dont you like them? is a it a flavor thing? pea soup is nasty...but i like peas. (that's one veggie that's a must on my salads)
There is always meatballs to substitute for peas.
oooo! spaghetti and meatballs!! i havent had that in ages!!!
Go for the peanut butter flavor Captain Crunch instead.
Sketti and meatballs is a staple at my house, mix up 10 lbs of meat concoction from deer and elk, them boil meatballs till they float, then freeze in various sized ziplocs for fast meals.
ohmygosh!! that is SOOOO good!! when i worked at a daycare, we had that as the afternoon snack... i ALWAYS had a bowl of it! mmmmmmmmmmm SO GOOD!!! i may have to amend my grocery list...
@MT Miner I like the way you think, my friend.
@Wendy It's the taste and the texture. I just really don't like any bit of it. Even when it's in something like a casserole or a pot pie, its flavor just permeates, and if there are enough peas in it, I have a hard time eating it.
@Truth I haven't had peanut butter flavored cereal in years. Another great suggestion. And most bowls are round.
interesting! :) i like green peppers, but detest them cooked. in dishes, on pizza, etc. the flavor just goes everywhere! picking them off does not work. i def relate on that!
Good Afternoon everyone! still bakin here in the midwest... gonna be over 100 again tomorrow.. and we're darn close to it today... current temp downtown is 94' with an index of 99'. yippee!! temps be darned, i'm wearing my new hot pink cowl necked short sleeved shirt with my black palazzo pants. lookin spiffy i am! lunch was a giant salad with tuna fish. i'm now enjoying my iced tea with lemon. and is it really only Tuesday???
Busy day at the bank. How is everyone this afternoon?
Doin' fine and welcome aboard! Some of us are tearin' it up on the eggplant thread.
How're you guys doing?
@Truth – Will do!
hey y'all!
Afternoon noyc ladee! How're you doing today?
Meh. PT kicked my butt this morning, and it's suuuuper slow so I'm pretty bored.
How you doin'?
I'm ok but apparently my hatred of brussel sprouts is a mutual thing. Have you had a chance to play over there?
Hey,are you and SeaBee playing hide and seek with us this week?
Hello all! Busy busy morning today..and then had an encounter with a pot hole the size of Texas. I'm mostly ok...however I think my gorgeous amazing pants might be KIA
Why are your pants KIA?
I don't think I want to know the answer to that question :)
I'm thinking that stands for Killed in Action. But I'm not sure how that applies to pants.
dodged to miss being hit by car in parking lot, stiletto caught in pot hole and then went down while sliding across pavement tearing a hole in my gorgeous pants. also scuffed stiletto and hands and right knee. Left ankle is swollen, probably twisted but thankfully nothing worse.
I'm SO sorry! Were you able to ice up your wounds before you had to start working? It's a PITA, but worth it to keep the swelling down (nods to QOE).
Well then darlin', this goes out to you...
And what is KIA??
Give a post when the full trip is up. Would love to see.
Howdy chums.
Still smiling BIG today?
Meh. Not as wide today. More like a half smirk.
@RH – thanks! It's probably going to take a day or two to get up all the pics... there's 8 days total to the trip (including the flying days).
Goooooooooood morning chumanerios! I't Tuesday, that is all.
Settle down Sparky, you are MUCH too chipper this morning. :))
What can I say? I feel great today for no apparent reason! :) Where are you at this fine day??
WD and I are in Mobile,AL. It's still raining but makes for good sleeping weather.
Does anyone want to go over to the political blogs and get all foody?
They have a Political Blog?
I'm in!
Which one?
I was just kidding but actually....let me find a good one.
Ahhh forget it. I can't find a good one :( And I have a crap load of work to do. If I do come across one, I will let you know!
Good Morning Bro....WD just took a dump on the front page of the Mobile morning paper. It had a picture of Obummer and Boehner so I think she is contemplating a career in Politics. :))
Watching the speeches last night left me with the deepest conviction that our naton is being led by the Marx Brothers. I think my next vote will be a write in for WD.
I concur,Tho she doesn't smoke cigars. I listened to all the finger pointing last night on the radio. I pointed my middle finger back at 'em. Anyway,Saw where the first pre-season game is Denver at Dallas on a Thursday night. Think your team can find the stadium? This also begs the question, will this be played in San Antonio or Arlington. At least the first place has better Mexican food.
I just saw that...I am not expecting much from the preseason this year. Even less than in usual years.
All that said, I have to wonder how long we will be without basketball. I doubt that dispute will be settled as quickly or easily as football was.
I see the Harlem Globetrotters as next World Champs.
Funny, I see them as the next congressional budget committee...
I'm finally starting to post my iReport of the trip out to San Francisco. Day 1 is up: http://ireport.cnn.com/docs/DOC-640905
Day 4 is my meeting up with SeaBee and Tazer. :)
Just read the report....Good job.
Present...and it's raining and yucky outside. WD needs to do her thang,so I'll be back in a minute.
Checking in...going to sit in the corner. Morning all.
Why the corner? Were you bad last night?
Or really good? ~_~
I was both :) Just woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning and need some quiet time.
It's RAINING!!!! YEAH!!!!!! :)
Sir Biddle's rain dance finally worked? Congrats!
Yes, it worked! I've never been so happy to see rain in my life. After the spring rains/floods around here, who'da thunk we'd have a drought a few short weeks later.
Good morning all!
Good morning klatsch! How is everyone doing today?
Me? Got a new printer/copier/scanner at home and having fun hooking it up to the wireless network...
@Queenie – My absence yesterday was unexpected and unavoidable. Apparently the ISP went down for quite some time and it literally started working again a short while ago.
Good Morning All! Fabulous day in the windy city. I brought pot tarts for everyone. :)
oooo,,,can I have one with a side of potato chips, dip, candy bars, brownies, and oh yeah, tacos?
Basil dip? HA!
Why can nothing in this day go according to plan?
I had one of those days last week, if at all possible just go back to bed.
I would love to. Unfortunately my bed is about 20 miles from me right now and I think my co-workers would get suspicious if I crawled under my desk with a pillow and blanket.
Got any vacant hospital beds?
Yes we do but I learned long ago not to lay down in one for fear of waking up with a tube in an orifice that didn't have one before. We medical professionals are sick SOBs sometimes...most of the time...always.
I was married to a paramedic once. LOVE that dark sense of humor!
I concur...Went out with a nurse for a while. It was memorable.
Howdee ho everyone. 6:35 AM here in Calif-land....
@Alee re: Pesto thread – I know some people who have to do extreme diets for a reason, and are on the look out for substitutions/ways to have variety within their restrictions. And they admit that they've gotten used to the way things taste/the texture of foods based on their diet, but they wouldn't blast a person for liking something that didn't fir their diet.
Also, there's a quote that's attributed to Mark Twain and Oscar Wilde – "All things in moderation, including moderation." Don't go overboard with something (be it food or an activity), but don't restrict yourself so much that you cause detriment to yourself (and others around you).
Good morning all. It's nice out today – 73', I'll take it.
Did you get rain? or did the temperature just break?
Temp just broke. Everyone else got rain, but us. Had to go to the store – 5 miles away, raining... Bank, 10 miles in other direction... raining. Hubby comes home, it's raining there... Just none where my house sits
You?
Temp broke then we got rain. We had a lovely storm pass through (as my aching head can attest to). Plenty of water for my cherry tomato plants which suffered while we were away in SF (even with my brother watering them a couple of times during the week we were gone).
It drizzled here for about 5 minutes, but that was it. There is a 95% chance of rain today around 1pm, lets see if we get any. Yesterday's 70% was a flop.
Morning all, checking in from a chilly mountain side today, 54 right now.
Morning crew. Biddle still feels like ass, may be a sparce pressence from me today.
You feel like two fleshy mounds? That's odd.
Morning Bro–I am putting my money on "Kid Cooties" causing your assness. Those Lil' Bastards have got it in for 'ya. Is Lil' Biddle feeling o.k.?
Good morning! First time poster, just recently started looking at this site and I'm quite happy I was directed here. Decent morning thus far. Made some chicken mei fun for lunch today, it's a nice change from the typical chicken & rice. Still looking for some good lunch recipes that either don't take too long (evenings are short) or make-ahead multiples. Any suggestions from my fellow lunch-bringers?
Welcome~I'm lucky...I have a cafeteria where I work. Enjoying a reuben sandwich, pretzels, and an iced tea! Just right.
Very nice! We have a plethora of restaurants around, but none are quite in the desired lunch budget range.
What I like to do is to make extra dinner the night before, then take the leftovers for lunch. Buy some extra and it usually works out. Since my wife works later than I do, I wind up doing most of the cooking, so this works well.
I do that from time to time, but the downside is my wife is considerably pickier than I am, so lunch is my outlet to cook meals that she doesn't particularly enjoy. Often I just cook my lunch while cooking dinner but I'd like to mix things up a bit. I've been enjoying my wok lately, but want to try some other quick-cook dishes. Perhaps some thai.
Hi, and Welcome!!!
What hubby and I used to do is spend a weekend day cooking lunches, and then freezing them. Everything from grilling burgers and meats, to soups. Then we didn't have to worry about it for 2 or 3 weeks. Just pull one and go. Also nice, because we didn't get sick of having the same thing for lunch that we had for dinner.
That's a good point. I have yet to freeze anything, but perhaps that's the best plan of attack. Also it doesn't take up so much time in the evenings, which is nice because my evenings seem quite short.
Good morning! I'll take some of that coffee. I didn't want to get up this morning! It was so nice & cool for a change, I just wanted to stay all snuggled up in bed!
Good morning all...How is everyone doing this fine morning?
HAHAHA!
?
I mentioned Patrickk in my post to Mil, not knowing that "he" had already made his mark on the pesto thread.
I saw the flaming going on and figured I would stir some...Always willing to poke those who are already agitated...
Oh wow... the Pesto post yesterday spawned into a flame fest over a low fat variation posted by someone who seems to think that all fat is bad.
I know. Funny what'll spark up a wildfire, isn't it? ;) Can't wait to see Patrickk show up and give them a "your-o-peein" perspective. HA!
Back in the 90's, I was doing the fat-free thing, so I can see how his recipe would be something of a substitute. I've since learned that that kind of extreme diet is necessary. If you practice moderation and have a healthy lifestyle, you can eat just about anything.
Jeffrey mentioned something about the oily consistency of normal pesto was distasteful to him. I'm thinkin' he's been on a fat-free diet for a very long time.
Present! Got caught up in work. Shame on me. HAHAHA!
How're y'all doing today? Is coffee ready yet?
Coffee is perking away.
Good gracious me - where is everyone?
I don't know. I just got into work. (Normal time for me too).
