Good night all.
I'm here.....patiently waiting on Secret Supper info........................
Ok folks, I am out. Enjoy your evenings and get back safely tomorrow.
Be well!
good afternoon all! i feel like a wayward child just having found the path back to normalcy. work has been crazy busy, i've had no time to come check in with my klatschers! i'm quite sure i've missed out on some fabulous hijinks... conversely, my weekend was wonderful! i spent yesterday stripping, sanding, resanding, sanding again with the extra fine grit, and then sealing my old childhood dresser. tried this once before...but alas staining was not to be. the dresser is older than my mom, and whoever had it orginally just abused the heck out of it. tis a'painting i shall go. saturday was a great day at the pool...i think i've got almost all my tan lines evened out now! hope everyone has a great afternoon! and to the grindstone i return.
Does "tan lines evened out" mean you're all one color now?
for the most part...there are some areas of the bod i cant bare to the other poolgoers...it isnt a topless pool unfortunately. :oD
Insufficiently private back-yard?
yep. unfortunately even though i have a relatively large yard (1 acre) the neighbors behind me can see my house as they're up on the hill....and i refuse to pay for a fake bake. :)
Well, if we share a bday I'm guessing hubs is generous, witty, handsome, & has a great sense of humor.;)
I'm feeling light-headed and at the same time I feel like I have the ability to punch through this wooden desk...where's that water cooler?
You have a wooden desk? I have something that appears to be covered in formica (or something resembling formica).
Now that you mention it, I'm immediately wondering what this desk is really made of...hm...
In other news, I'm feeling a bit better now after a cool kind of thing that happened in the warehouse...
Who was she?
She...? Oh, it wasn't like THAT! Get your head outta the gutter! =)
I was given a paper to give to one of the warehouse workers for a hazardous shipment and he only speaks Spanish, so I'm trying to formulate what to say to him. When I finally reach him, all I get out of my mouth is "This is..." before he nods and takes the paper, saying something along the lines of "Oh yeah, I know what this is for. Thanks!"
It made me chuckle.
DROP 200 AND FIRE FOR EFFECT!!!!
Oh, sorry, had a flashback to gulf war 1 after dealing with my customers...
Army, Marines?
I was in the Navy.
Was Army at the time.
I was on a sub spotting for the gunships and launching Tomahawks at our buddy Saddam.
My brother was in the 1st armored that went up into iraq.
I need coffee...lots of coffee....where did that IV drip go?
I think your buddy AleeD has the IV since early this morning.
I just had my last caffeine for the day *hands over the set-up with a new needle*
Ya wants me I should starts your IV for youz? ;D
Yes Please :-D
Sorry, I had to go to a meeting. Did you get someone qualified to start your IV? Or did you just take the needle off and use the tubing as a siphon?
*Deep breath* ...
Why can't my brother just sometimes shut UP and LISTEN to what I HAVE TO SAY?!
Is he your older brother? If so, google "birth order characteristics". I have found there is A LOT of validity to some of the theories.
I see the word birth and my mind flashes back to that article about the 16lb baby...I am having sympathy pains for her
I just googled that 16 lb baby. I have never seen an obese infant. Talk about health problems.
It's not anything like that, but it's just something stupid that quickly escalated into a shouting match over the intercom.
It went like this, more or less:
"Hey, can you get that thing in the freezer?"
"There's nothing there."
"Yes there is."
"Uh, no there isn-"
"YES THERE IS."
"NO THERE-"
"YES THERE IS!"
"IT ISN'T IN TH-" *He hangs up at this point*
I have the same problem, DJ. Sometimes you just have to give them enough rope and let 'em hang themselves. By "hang" I mean they're either going to learn that they should have listened or they aren't.
Truth's right about the "birth order characteristics." There is alot of validity to them. Learning more about them could help you see things in a different light.
I feel you. My bro just called to wish me happy Bday. My bday is 8-11, not 7-11. Nice thought but thoughtless.
My hubby's b-day is on 8/11 as well.
Your brother just wants to make sure he didn't forget :) LOL
I am so very very hungry...can't wait for lunch...11 minutes and counting down. I've been dieting and missed my morning snack due to an emergency meeting. *stomach growls*
So Carolina style pulled pork for lunch, French classic for dinner. Talk about a world of difference on a plate.
Now that sounds like some giid eatin', Mil! I love BBQ. "French classic?"
Going to one of the classic French restaurants in my hometown (Albany, NY)
Okay, got it. Enjoy!
Just some drunk idiots in my foursome who happened to be driving. The first was my driver backing up to go around the other cart and he clipped them. The second was the other cart hitting up at full speed from behind in the form of retribution. I found out that golf carts are not bumper cars.
Also – You can get a DUI on a golf cart.
And on a bicycle.
Didn't Bill Murray or some comedian get a DUI on a golf cart a couple years ago?
Was it like this?
Sort of. We got yelled at by the marshall for going to slow. I just gave up and just started finishing out the holes while they were looking for their balls.
I have nothing against drinking, but I have to wonder why guys do it when doing sports that require clear headedness. I don't golf, but I LOVE to ski, and could not imagine getting hammered before getting on the lift.
Who said golf requires clear headedness?!? :)
A sky lift too!
The idoit tax now comes on wheels. http://www.nbcwashington.com/news/local/DC-DC-Betting-on-New-Lottery-Truck-125351693.html
Good gawd. How did we ever get along without it....?
I teach a personal finance class to the poor at a local shelter and I am always dismayed at how many are hooked on the lottery. Sad really that we exploit our poorest citizens.
Since when are lottery tickets edible?
Durn near anything is edible with ketchup or chocolate on it.
Cheese too!
Whiz or the real thing?
Ranch dressing, too, from what I hear.
I'll take any cheese, whiz, curd, sliced, or fancy high-end.
Ditto on ranch and I'd add Frank's Red Hot to just about anything too.
Who needs some ketchup?
I gotta wiener that needs ketchup! ~_~
(nod to RH)
I'm going to bite my forked tongue and let that one go riiiiiiggggghhhhttt on by sweetheart.
Works sucks. That is all.
Ditto that here Q.
I'll second that motion.
Hey gang. Morning got away from me, anything wild happening?
Pretty tame day in the Klatsch.
I did try to get Sir Bid to admit he made this weekend's tips from dancing on tables. Apparently my timing was off. ;)
Hahaha! Just now caught that.
No table dancing, just refering to Jerv's announcment last Friday that I would be performing at Bruno's Bathhouse.
Good afternoon all – just got done cleaning out the science experiment I like to call my fridge. How is it that food that was good for dinner 2 days ago, can sprout legs and walk almost over night – or so it seams.
I wonder if all those preservatives that I've been trying to avoid actually make that much of a difference....
Ok, let's see what we have here...
"Do you smoke? Well ya do now." LOL!!
Good Morning All! TWO-How do you crash a golf cart? Twice?
O.K. Chumarinos–Got fuel, food in my stomach and WD has marked her spot in Pensacola. On to Biloxi,MS and hopefully some good sleep. Truth take care of the "Secret Supper" for me tonight ,please. Be safe all and will try to check in later. ADIOS
10-4 and drive safe.
You shouldn't have volunteered to be the birthday pinata. ;)
Happy Birthday to Dave the 2nd!
Sounds like he was the pinata! LOL Or maybe he had some slip 'n slide fun like Lulu??
Actually, we dug a hole about 6 deep and ten wide which we lined with a giant blue tarp. It made one hell of a water slide, but it hurt a lot...
BTW, THAT'S a redneck swimmin pool.
Sweet jeebus, I would have broken something for sure if I did that! Sounds fun though!!
And I thought I'd be the only here with watersports injuries today! ;P
Speaking of water-related injuries, mine is water-related, but I was in the shower. I was lifting my leg to put my foot on the shower bench (never mind why) and instead of clearing the step, I kicked it & jammed my middle toe.
TWO, were your golf cart incidents close to water hazards? It could be a trend ....
Already had the party, that's the problem.
Hello, All.
Good to be back,
Long weekend, son had his 11th B-day, and somehow I ended up with all the bruises.
Howdy Ho,sounds like you and Lulu need to have a party. :))
Welcome back! Glad to see you, again!
(Sorry, I have a new job and don't have as much time to post, as I used to!)
Completely uneventful weekend. Didn't even cook anything I was so lazy. Looks like Uncle Sam might default on his debt. Can our politicians do anything right anymore? How was your weekend? Ever hear from Jdizz?
All of the politicians Mommies dress them funny. Vote 'em out in 2012. Left out Saturday night so WD and I have just been ridin' and guidin'.
I remain convinced that BOTH parties are comprised of complete and utter morons. Our gov't has become a sham, and I hate what it has done to our standing in the world. Some friends of mine had a baby this weekend, and all I could think is what a poor prognosis for the baby's future. Not a happy thought, but it is all I could keep in my mind.
Couldn't agree more. Then throw in the fact that we seem to have lost the ability of everyone sacrificing a little to benefit us all. "Better not cut my social security and medicare benefits. Cut food stamps. Cut education." Oh, did you mention one time that you hate it when someone gets political on a food blog? (wink)
Howdy, everyone! Anything exciting happening this week? "Enquiring" minds want to know.
Good sort-of-still morning, chums. I think the Evil Lair may have found a new location. This is good.
I hope your weekends went well.
All Aboard!! Present Queen. Good Morning from Pensacola FL. WD and I are doing a double Florida this week. On our way to Biloxi,MS. for a 10 hour break, then hit the Katy yard, drop and hook and turn and burn back to Jacksonville FL. to unload. 747's nor the Silver Streak got anything on us.
Good morning Bro...Was wondering where you ran off to...Hopefully you get some good traveling weather. Biloxi in July cannot be pleasant.
You can say that again..It was hot and steamy when we went flying through there on Sunday. At least Big Blue and the a/c are running great. Got her up to 92 mph Sunday night with only 28.000 lbs of weight in the trailer.
Sir, I'm going to need you to step out of the vehicle. Do you realize it's illegal to drive over the speed limit in Texas? Except if you are waving and shooting guns and hollerin' out the window of course.
Honest Occifer,if I knew it was hazardous to my health I never would have smoked one. HA! I mind my P's and Q's when I drive in Texas, though between Mobile AL and the Florida line I let her run and lead the pack.
Hows it going Texas Chaser? Man it is going to get up to 97 today and 100 tomorrow. Fraking hot. Me and my brothers visited an uncle in TX several years ago and I remember TX drivers as fast as they wanted. Even drove in the emergency lanes. Insane.
Hey Truth, what was the story that you posted as Patrickk last week?? I want to read the responses.
Afternoon Lil'Buddy...Yea the speed limit says 70 but you better stay in the right lane 'cuz 82 mph is about average. How was the weekend?
See the America's Culinary History thread. That Patrickk is a real character sometimes...
Good Monday morning all, and welcome to Lulu!! Love that name. :) I'm back from vacay, well I was back on Friday but too busy to check in... Our 4th was nice and we did buy a charcoal grill, but I honestly don't see the difference from my gas grill at home, and one full hour to get the charcoals white hot?? sheesh
Glad you are back. Where did you vacation at?
Moses Lake, WA ~ My daughters/sons in law live up there with all the kiddies (6 of them between the 2 daughters), and we bought a vacation home up there last year. Great time of year to visit. Went to a wonderful farmer's market there, and I was cooking for 12 pretty much every day, so that made me happy! :)
Just pulled some lemon cranberry scones from the oven! I'll leave the plate, here, for the group! Happy Monday!
ooohhh sounds yummy!
Yum!! That made my stomach growl!!!
So, I've learned that adults should not mix alcohol consumption with slip n' slides. It may seem like a good idea at the time, but it really is not. I'm sporting a huge purple lump on my knee and bruises on my hips.
But even though I'm all gimpy, it was totally worth it! (Maybe I just need to work on my technique?)
Seems like mixing the two would be the way to play on those as an adult. ;) What were ya drinkin'? Did you add soap to the slip 'n' slide? That's always fun, too. Mwah-ha-ha-ha.
Here. *hands over the ever-present bottle of IB's* I always have a bottle ready for TWO, but I think he'd share .... since you're new and all. ;)
Have at 'em. Just save me a few for my back. I got into not one, but two, golf cart accidents yesterday :) There is also coconut water in the fridge for hydration purposes.
Thanks for the meds, I need 'em!
You know, it was hot out, the kids were having a ball on it...I couldn't resist! I was drinking a yummy concoction of wild cherry vodka, sprite, and a splash of apricot brandy. It tasted just like a cherry life saver! I thought the first one was good, so then I had to have another two just to be sure. Haha! And no to the soap! That would have landed one of us in the ER for sure!
TWO – how'd you crash your golf cart? I've always wanted to steal one and take it out for a joyride...I'm sure I'd end up flipping it though!
I wasn't even driving! It was really just two collisions. The first was accidental and the second was retribution. I wasn't expecting either :) I have gotten one up on two wheels once...that was pretty fun. Don't bother stealing them unless you know how to take off the governor cause otherwise they only go like 12 miles and hour. And make sure the ones you grab are gas and not electric.
That last post was from me :) I need more coffee!
LOL! I just figured who would know the ins & outs of golf cart theft better than a cop!
Morning all, hope everyone had a good weekend.
I totally forgot how awesome this week is going to be. [/SARCASM?]
The only two people that work in the office in the warehouse are out on vacation this entire week, so we have to send my brother to man the fort back there while they're gone. Not sure how that will affect us in here, but you never know...
Morning all! What's up with you west coast folks getting here so early?
It's cause we're special.
Good morning all. Hope this finds all having had a great weekend.
G'morning! I thought of you this weekend. I had the chance to watch a couple of episodes of "No Reservations" yesterday and it brought to mind some of the comments you've made about him. He is, very rapidly, growing on me. While watching his shows, I realized he is doing my dream job: traveling all over the world, sampling the local cuisines. There wasn't a single thing he ate that I wouldn't have tried myself.
What was funny was at least once on each show I saw, he said of a particularly "bizarre" food, "I'll leave that to Zimmern." :D
I'm really looking forward to his Cuba show that's airing tonite.
I like him. Seems to be at ease anywhere in the world and always respects local customs. I've not read any of his books, but I understand he is very candid.
Good morning all! Hope everyone had a pleasant weekend.
Welcome back JJ. Had pizza at Spike's place on the 4th of July and thought of you. No milkshake, but two big slices filled me up.
How can you be in that area and not get a milky way milkshake??? i need one so badly...think i might be heading to the hill this weekend to get one
Oh, my fiance found a trail mix at my co-op... Mocha Madness. Nuts, fruit, chocolate & peanut butter pieces, white chocolate covered raisins... and dark chocolate covered espresso beans.
Mornin' everyone, especially to our newbie Lulu! Your name actually the same as a nickname that one of my cousins has...
In other news, I will most likely never eat at a Longhorn Steakhouse ever again...depending on the circumstances...*urp*
Every time someone mentions that place, all I can think of were the Mad-Gab-like T- shirts they wore last time I was there that said "Lawn Corn Stay Cows." Love that kinda play on the English language!
Why won't you go back?
Just a series of visits that were...sub-par, to say the least. This most recent one had it's fair share of flubs, including people bringing food that no one had ordered, mix-ups with the food, and so on. Not to mention that I ate WAY too much, but that's more on me than anything else...
Interesting. It's been a few years since we were there. Things were getting too spicey for BB, so we quit going. I'll have to give it another shot to see if we have similar service fubar's like yours. I used to love their yeast rolls & cinnamon butter – the steaks didn't suck either. ;)
Good morning and happy Monday.
Please pass the coffee. I have IV's to start. ;)
Welcome back JJ!
Morning AD
Thanks :-D
Going over the posts since I left work on Friday....
Oh boy... a post about animal cruelty/regulation to stir the pot.
Good morning, gang! I hope everyone had a nice weekend!!
Good morning! I didn't get to say hello when you checked in, last week! Welcome to the Klatsch! :-)
Thanks! :)
Ditto!
Good Morning Crew!
Morning, all! How was the weekend?
I made MAD money in tips on Saturday!
Congrats, but please tell me that you have burned any photographic evidence.
Oh that was the easy part as I borrowed a mini EMP that the Secret Service uses with the motorcade to disable all electronic devices. The real shocker was Jerv showed up and asked for change for a dollar at one point in the night.
Were you tipped for dancing on tables?
The weekend was pretty good... gearing up to next weekend though!!! Gods, I'm not sure I'm going to be ready to fly!
Looking forward to Saturday! I love the aquarium, and it looks to be reasonably nice for this time of year!
Are you in the San Fran area?
No, about halfway between SF and LA. Mildred and her fiance are going to be in Monterey, though, and it's not too far of a drive for me to get up there.
Howdy! Can't believe I'm here this early! Cheers!
Good morning all! Coffee, tea, and blueberry scones ready for the table.
It's going to be odd not ordering from my farm this week. Might try to order next week and get my boss to pick up my order.
Good morning all. I brought some Blueberry Smoothies to mark my return...hopefully didn't miss that much last week.
Morning and thanks JJ. We have a new Klatscher, her name is Lulu. How is everything on the homefront?
Things are returning to a type of normal. Mom and one sister are still in Boston, they get back tomorrow afternoon pending any delays. Just really waiting tho to see how things will be back once Mom is back home, what she needs/wants.
