While you're frying up some eggs and bacon, we're cooking up something else: a way to celebrate today's food holiday. Nobody better lay a finger on my butter crunch - June 29 is National Almond Butter Crunch Day. This fancy holiday snacker packs enough sugar to sedate someone with a serious sweet tooth and just by the name, you know it brings the crunch. This candy mixture is a cousin to toffee, and is sometimes lumped in as a member of the immediate family. Almond butter crunch is really like an almond brittle, sandwiched between two layers of melted chocolate and chopped pecans. Just don't drop the pan with those butter fingers of yours. |

Your local Friendly's restaurants, if you're lucky, will have butter crunch ice cream. Doesn't have nuts *in* it, but you could get almonds as a topping.
