Chef Gabrielle Hamilton was going a million miles a minute when I met her for an interview at her wildly popular Prune restaurant in Manhattan's East Village. Fresh from an interview uptown, she ran in, her assistant ran out and waited in Hamilton's idling car double parked outside while we talked. As soon as we were through, she jumped back into the car, started chatting on her cell phone and waited for a spot to open up. Blood, Bones and Butter, her wildly entertaining memoir, chronicles Hamilton's unconventional childhood, relationships and how she stumbled into her current occupation, which she realized she's been unwittingly preparing for most of her life. Her book is incredibly well done, well worth the time to read it in a comfy spot and to take your time.
.... Maybe I should write a memoir.. Since everyone else is doing it. It'd be interesting enough. It's pretty entertaining seeing the looks on ppl's faces after telling a story or 2. lol
I plan to read her book. On the other hand, I just want to say that I enjoy prunes. I have a large container of the sunsweet ones in my cupboard. My grandmother used to bring prunes when she would come to our house for a visit. I think that was how she showed her love.......
