Pssst! Got a sec to chat? We are utterly thrilled when readers want to hang out and talk – whether it's amongst themselves or in response to pieces we've posted. We want Eatocracy to be a cozy, spirited online home for those who find their way here. Consider the daily Coffee Klatsch post as your VIP lounge – the primary comments thread for readers who'd like to chat about topics not related to the articles we're running. That way, everyone knows where to find each other, and each post's comments section remains on topic. |

Wow just saw a report on the main site about storms in the South...hope RH is OK! I think he is traveling back from FL tonight...
Looks like the storms are farther north than Rich's route, but keeping my fingers crossed for him and WD.
Saw this over on the 5@5 grilled cheese debate and thought we could play a game and keep it going... :)

I like that one!
Oh, the joys of changing positions.... Haven't even been given a written offer for the new position, and the company already has a requistion open to fill my spot.
I want this weather to go away...altho the interesting clouds outside are rather fascinating to watch!
Decisions, decisions, do I make tandoori chicken tonight or eat leftover Thai lettuce wraps...hmmm. On a different note, went to lunch and tried the black iced tea, and the grean iced tea, and the passion fruit iced tea. The black tea jacked me up!! So I'm wide awake for the afternoon!! :)
Green iced tea is good, but passion fruit iced tea and white iced tea are amazing...
As to the black tea, I think the LAST thing I need most days to be more jacked up...
Hmmm, must try white iced tea next... A friend just recommended Teavana stores to me and they carry it.
Don't know if you've heard, but there are tornado watches/warnings for most of WNY/CNY right now. Be safe!
it seems like most of the country easy of the Mississippi river is under a watch/warning. We have a watch in the DC metro area since like 10AM and it goes until 9pm tonight I think. Hating the humidity but enjoying the clouds flying by my office!
mmmmmmmmmm orange chicken.......
Just took the admin to lunch and had a bacon-swiss burger that was freakin unbelievable...
Alright! It's after lunch and I was originally going to put up something a bit...different. But then I thought that I might scare everyone away with it, so I decided on something that can be described as a classic reimagined. You'll know what I mean when it gets to about 3 minutes in... =)
(IT Challenged version: The Beatles – "Come Together/Dear Prudence/Cry Baby Cry" from the album LOVE)
I LOVE LOVE! I saw it 3 years ago in Vegas – what a great show, and wonderful music to boot!
I have finished my piece of cake and am now headed home. Hasta la later!
Later Q I'm outta here too. Since it is hump day I'll drink some whiskey for every one tonight.
Okay, so I've spent my lunch break trolling the internets looking for meatloaf with carmelized onion recipes. I stumbled upon this little recipe http://foodiefashionista.blogspot.com/2008/02/meatloaf-burgers-with-smokey-ketchup.html. Guess what we'll be having this weekend! On a totally unrelated matter, I'm eating a piece of cake.
I like that idea, being as all the leftover meatloaf ends up as sandwiches anyhow.
That sounds good. I like to substitute Heinz 57 for the ketchup.
I can't get to view blogs from work (except this one), but the description in the path, hamburger/bacon/smokey ketchup sounds yummy!
Had lunch 2 hours ago, and now I'm craving sushi. Maybe I'll pick some up on the way home...
For anyone who has gone voluntarily childless, I give you a strong case to support your decision:

Unreal, and we thought unemployment was high here, 40% for that age group? While we are raising our share of kids that think they are 'entitled" to everything, apparently that is the norm for that culture. I would probably be in jail for being mean if i lived there, lol
$292 a month food stipend? WhiskeyTangoFoxtrot that's more than half of what I spend on a monthly basis for 4 people!
Wowww...
That is random... HA!
Kind of what i was thinking, lol had the inlaws and my buddies over for the better part of the weekend, so getting down the last of the oddball leftovers. Being tomorrow is my Friday, and there are still some other oddities left, it could be even more strange tomorrow.
Was running late this morning when i packed my lunch, and not fully awake, just tossed stuff in, has been interesting grazing through it..... Bagel with cream cheese, cup of peach yogurt, one hardboiled easter egg, 6 meatballs with country gravy, a slice of white bread, a slice of wheat bread, bag of peanuts, 3 pieces of asparagus, and a can of ginger ail.
I understand the 'just toss' lunch, but what I don't get, is how you ended up with 1 slice of 2 types of bread. You had to open the bag to get 1 slice, why not just grab 2?
lol, I should have clarified, 2 heels, 2 bags, the end of the bread in the fridge, down to 3 hamburger buns for tomorrow.
Trying a new Asian place for lunch today- and tomorrow the team is getting taken out for Mexican!
Okay, well, I will check in a bit later. On to a conference call. This ought to be fun.
Well Smack my ass and call me Rosie-Finally loaded with O.J. and ready to roll. Everyone have a great day and stay safe.
I'll call you Rosie but I draw the line at smacking your ass.
Travel safely Bro!
hello everyone. it's been one heck of a week already. short version: my brother had surgery yesterday. they had to rebreak his fibula to get it completely straightened out...and he's still got the erector set for at least another month. so much pain he's in... lemme tell ya – i'm done with hospitals now...and why are the waiting room chairs so dang uncomfortable?!?! we've got to sit there for 8 hours waiting...why dont they at least have footrests, or something to make our stay there a bit more relaxing?? we're already forbidden to eat or drink anything in there...dehydration is not my idea of a good time. i cant get enough water today!
i see JDizz is MIA again... hope we hear from him soon. and i havent seen sara ellen in a LONG time!!
Guinn has been missing too.
Why won't they let you have water in the waiting room? WTF?
the waiting room for the patients is the same as for the waiting family members.. so they say no food or water so as to not tease the patients waiting to go into surgery [that havent had food/water since the night before]. which totally bites! i wanna know why there isnt two waiting rooms in this hospital...every other hospital i've been to has two specifically for that purpose.
Totally agree, that bites!
Got kicked out of a state park last night ;)
LOL!! that begs the Q: what were you doing???
DoNot "Flash" the Bears!!
Well I could make up a fun story, but really, we were just there too late. :)
Time to go get some work done, talk to you all later.
Too funny this post over on the vegan cookie thread... "fluten free", does that mean they have no gas??
Jackie
A co-worker of mine is fluten free for health reasons.
Ladies and Gentlemen, today is Administrative Professionals Day. Do something nice for your support staffers. Flowers, lunch or a small gift are always appropriate.
Thank you and you may now return to your normally scheduled blogging.
Good morning all, happy Wednesday!! 1/2 way through the week and we are heading into a hot one today, 89 degrees, which means it will probably hit 94.
The warmest I have seen since October was 66 on Easter Sunday, I think I could handle 90 for a day.
Bad news: My boss has forbidden me from starting a fire in my trashcan for warmth. I knew I should have just rifled through her desk for some matches instead of asking for them.
Maybe she heard about the tiki torch incident... :)
I am trying to earn my Arson Badge–need some rubbing alcohol, cotton, and some tongue depressors. Have you warmed up in no time.
Formal greetings to "my" Chumarino Klatschkies! (spel ckeck does NOT like those words....)
A beeeeeuuuutiful morning here!
Plan for the day: Be Annoyingly Cheerful!
LIKE the photo of the two cups with the froth shaped into hearts. Nice.
*like*
Morning!! Welcome to the middle of the week, folks! The weekend is approaching. Anyone have big plans for this weekend?
Mowing the lawn, plus rolling – 7 hours of "me time" :)
Weekend will be some light cleaning, mani/pedi, menu planning for Mother's Day in Phoenix, and hopefully cooking up something fantastic, just not sure what yet...I need some inspiration!
Baloney and scrambled eggs with ketchup on the side–a true Polack dish!! Maybe a little cheese thrown in too.
Eww, scrambled eggs with ketchup!? And baloney too. I am taking about real food, you know, chicken, lamb, cow.
Shirley,You jest...Baloney is made up of all those prime cuts-add cheese and it's fabtastic.
Weather permitting, I have fence to build all weekend, ughhh. Current weather forecast says i may be doing indoor activities though, so it may be time to do a ton of cooking and restock my frozen lunch cache.
Word of the day time!

I got nothing....
This weekend, I will be fishing in a peaceful, littoral setting near a mountain lake.
Due to recent rainfall, Indiana now has an abundance of littoral areas.
Good morning all – trying to drip dry after all the storms yesterday. I feel so bad for the farmers here. My county has already been declared a disaster area for them – late winter storm pretty much killed the apple crop, and we are a HUGE apple county, now everything is flooded, so I don't know about the corn :(
GOOOOOOOOOO LIMOOOOOOOOOO!!!
Woo Hoo! Journey, Foreigner and Night Ranger are playing in Indy on August 6th! I know what I'll be asking for my birthday this year.
Journey is NOT the same without Steve Perry. Just sayin'!!
I concur. Nothing is the same without Steve Perry.
Beside, Dr. Suess is considered out of network, and who can afford the copay. Love that Obamacare...
So who's Dr. Suess on the beer thread?
That was me...I tried to fit you in, but what rhymes with "Queen"???
Certainly nothing that pertains to beer. I don't really care for beer anyway so I'm okay with being left out.
WIEEEEEEEENIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
"On St. Paddy's day, when beer is green, I'd love to hoist some with our Queen."...
Good morning, my little balls of sunshine! It's a rainy day in the Circle City but tomorrow is my Friday so I can't complain.
Morning all, clear and sunny here in MT, might see 60 today!
Yes!
Much rejoicing in the MHC!
In addition to U2 playing at Mile High Stadium next month, Jethro Tull was just announced for Red Rocks.
Sweet! We have Lynyrd Skynyrd in my neck of the woods.
"I tell you one thing that really drives me nuts, is people who think that Jethro Tull is just a person in a band. "
"Who is Jethro Tull?"
Same goes for Molly Hatchet...
Cannot beat the classics...
Good morning! Love the commercial this morning, makes me smile :-D
I have some danishes for everyone today, so please enjoy!
"Beep Beep Beep Beep." Translated- – I wonder why George Lucas didn't have a cereal made for me?
Good morning all. A clear and sunny day ahead in the MHC. Just heard from Bride, who is doing an excursion with the brood into Phenom Penh (sp?) as this is a holiday week over there. Just looked up the weather and it is actually hotter in Cambodia than in VN. Glad I stayed here.
In a related note, another Thuggets game on the agenda for tonight.
Holiday week? What's the holiday and does everything shut down for a whole week?
Reunification Day. Apparently a big holiday, comemorating when the US pulled out. Oddly though, I have never detected much (if any) anit-American sentiment. They seem to really like Westerners actually.
The only real wtf moment I had there was on my first trip. We landed at the airport during daylight, and there is actually still some burned out plane wreckage laying in the fields next to the runways at the airport. For a brief moment, I started thinking "wtf have I gotten into here?"...
Wow, people are up early.
I still hope we hear back from Jdizz.
LOL! The gluten free post was genius! Thought I'd stop in this morning before hitting the pile of work that awaits me. Are you making any runs today?
Thank You Lil' Buddy–waiting to load O.J. as we speak and head back to Texas. How's it going in VA?
Gonna be humid and rainy here today. I'll be glad when the pollen stops flying all around cuz all I do is eat Claritin and sniff all the time. Were any of the Muskateers able to get in touch with your friend Jdizz?
No Sir,I left him 2 E-Mail addresses and Truth left his but no answer yet. Have you tried Allegra Allergy over the counter? Works for 24 hrs and it's helped me.
The Allegra I tried is 12 tables 60 mg each and the box says 12 hour. I'm gonna hunt down the 24 hour stuff. Thanks!
Good Morning ALL–Coffee is on and I'm gonna need to take out a loan for my next coffee purchase. Can you believe $9.99 for a lb. bag of Starbucks coffee? Almost as bad as paying $4.06 a gallon for diesel fuel-RipOff! End of rant for today. WD is getting better at backing up Big Blue into the dock area. Now where is the roach coach,we are hungry.
WD! My kind of dog! Fab!
My best dog of a lifetime was a German Shepherd and I think she could have made coffee. She certainly understood English!
Roach Coach is here–Who wants breakfast tacos with mystery meat inside?
I'm so dang-on hungry I'll take three, WD.
"Ensign, I want long range scans for any detection of Jdizz. Use our modified deflector array to see if he is cloaked. We'll flood the whole sector with tachyon particles if that's what it takes to find Jdizz!"
"Release the Hounds and find the Head Nurse-she always brings him out of his funk"!!
How can you tell who is the head nurse of a facility?
She's the one with dirty knees.
