Pssst! Got a sec to chat?
We are utterly thrilled when readers want to hang out and talk – whether it's amongst themselves or in response to pieces we've posted. We want Eatocracy to be a cozy, spirited online home for those who find their way here.
Consider the daily Coffee klatsch post as your VIP lounge – the primary comments thread for readers who'd like to chat about topics not related to the articles we're running. That way, everyone knows where to find each other, and each post's comments section remains on topic.
Here is a thing not to give someone whose respect you'd like: "processed American cheese food with gouda-like flavor." Just...don't.
1:20 in the MHC and we are probably at about 60 degrees or so. Will be nice to see some of this slop melt. We are off to the mountians tonight, so will talk to y'all on Monday! Be well!
You and the Bride be careful, have fun and don't slide down the mountain. Best to you Both.
Happy Saturday, chumarinos! It is a bright sunshine day in Indiana. Our snowman is melting as I type and so is all of the snow and ice. Have a great weekend!
Good Saturday Morning all. It's a Beautiful day in Katy,Texas with Blue skies and a temp of 68 degrees. "Naked Grilling" shall begin around 1:00 p.m. CDT. Bring suntan lotion.
Good to hear all is good. Keep the faith my sister and know that you are in Miss Saigon's and My prayers!
Good afternoon darling Klatshers! Slice and dice is scheduled mid-April, and I'm schlepping myself around in a removable cast for time being. Whee. Good news is he's done two of these recently and both are at 100% at 6 months, so there's a light at the end of the tunnel!
WooooooHoooooo! Kinda like being pregnant but not having to buy new clothes.
ooooo those boots are horrible! they make you walk all funny... ;)
Yeah it's a beast, but a whole lot better than twisting it again! Although, I'm already tired from having it on.... good thing I get practice before it's with a completely bad foot. :) Always a positive side to everything.
O.k. I know your busy so have a Great Weekend and stay warm. Leave the top up for a couple more days.:)
hah!! :) yeah... it's back and forth here. you have a good weekend also! dont forget to wear red on monday!
Dang, between you and donkey toes and the Queen and hairy toenails I have to keep checking myself. I imagine she'll be fine for about 2 weeks and then the rehab starts. We'll probably hear her all the way over here.
I concur! I try to go to the Fair once a year so it's worth it. Hope Tazer is getting a good diagnosis.
me too! surgery is NOT fun.. and being immobile is horrible. you never realize how much you use an appendage until you cant! i was on crutches for 3 mos when i severely bruised my ankle bones... a break wouldve healed faster. i empathize with her... hopefully everything turns out well. anesthesia sucks donkey toes!
... but the morphine button was nice!!! hah!! did she say if it was outpatient? i cant remember...
hah!! dontcha just love spending money on a beer that at the store you could get a sixpack?! :) i'm willing to spend the cash for stuff i cant get at the store though! like cotton candy and funnel cake. YUM!
I was excited 'cuz they had Fletcher's Corny Dogs and you can only get them during The State Fair in October. $7.50 a piece. Beer was $8.50. Good thing it was in April and not 100 degrees outside.
I agree. I paid $160.00 for two tickets to the Nascar race in Ft.Worth, which wasn't bad. Good seats as they were coming out of the pits. Then I started adding up the ear protection, parking, food and so on. Dropped a $1000.00 that Sunday.
yep. nothing like spending vacation funds to do something in your hometown. the parking at the chiefs games is up to $25 now... but we do a lot of tailgating so that helps with the food costs. but if you want a beer or a hot chocolate you've gotta have a $20 in your pocket for every one. yeesh!
OY. i still cant believe the folks were paying $800+ for tickets to the game!!! that's just nuts!! even if i could afford it, i couldnt justify it.
I'll tell ya what sucks-At the Super Bowl Dinners Saturday nite the "Rich Folks" paid $150.00 for-wait for it-–DrPepper braised short ribs with canned pinto beans and corn bread. WD and I could be rich!!!!!!!
really?!?! you was robbed!!! you was robbed!!!
No joke. They had all sorts of Party's that I saw pictures of in the Dallas Morning News. Suckers!
i think i'm alone now...
there doesnt seem to be anyone around...
i think i'm alone now...
the clicking of my keyboard is the only sound...
I was waiting on the Earthquake Alarm from Spring Training Camp. :)
LOL!!! did you hear about the NFL strike? apparently there's some dissension in the ranks...and spring training isnt looking so good right now...
Good night David, Good night Chet.
Over and out,
It's Friday and i know your gonna skate out early to hit the mountains. You and the Beautiful Bride have fun, stay warm and don't forget to pack the guitar. Have a Great weekend my Brother! :)
Actually, we leave on Saturday, late afternoon, and come back Sunday in time for bowling. Just got back from the mall at lunch and bought her some perfume. I hope she likes. Be well and enjoy your weekend!

Well, chums, it's been fun but I must get dinner started. Tonight the castle inhabitants will be dining on beef and noodles. Not sure of a side dish yet but I'm thinking green beans. Have a great evening everyone!

Sean C. as James Bond
What an afternoon! I still don't understand why they think I want to work on Friday afternoons!!! Ok my 5@5:
1) like s.e., I would like to get published (I was a couple of times a few years ago, but nothing since I got married.)
2) sky dive (fear of heights be damned!)
3) Vacation on every continent...yes, I mean every continent, no matter the temperature!
4) Climb a mountain
5) Ride a horse...lame for a 5, but I've never ridden one...
Not sharing...not entirely convinced hubby doesn't troll the site reading my comments, so no sense in upsetting him...
haha!! tis true... a win for one of those teams surely is akin to an earthquake!
My WHO list:
Patrick Swayze (God rest his departed hot little soul)
Val Kilmer (before he got fat)
Donald Trump (somebody has to tell that man about the unfortunate creature that's living on top of his head)
Queen of England (I wonder if she'd let me wear her crown but she seriously needs an ugly hat intervention)
PW (my bestest friend in the whole wide world and the person who loves me for who I am, flammability issues and all)
LOL!! amen on the Val Kilmer bit!! WTF?!?! he looks horrid now!!! i saw a preview for a movie he was in recently, and i didnt recognize him!
I know! It looks like someone spent a little too much time around the Craft services table during filming.
DO NOT light a match around the Queen after she has eaten Beans. Just sayin'! :)
Holy mother of god, is this day over, yet????
S.E. – Thanks for the cocktail. I need a double, and pronto.
Trying to catch up on all the chatter... A big Coffee Klatsch welcome to the newbies! It's always fun to have others join in on the conversations!
As far as the 5 things for spring:
It's actually the reverse, here. We start pulling out sweaters, etc. The summer is cooler for the most part, not winter. Hate to burst the "here comes spring" bubble.
i would be in heaven!! my perfect weather is where i can wear a big fluffy sweater/sweatshirt, shorts, and sneakers. :)
My pleasure, SeaBee! I also feel like today has gone on much longer than it should...is it 5 yet?
That is a tought call! I feel like both of our choices were pretty solid
*snicker* Solid in more ways than one!!! :) the accents alone make me happy.
Since we did a 5@5 of places to visit, my "what" will be things to accomplish/try for the first time
1. open my own restaurant/bar
2. get certified for scuba
3. learn to sail
4. learn to surf
5. get published
if i had the means to do so, i'd open a doggy day care. i cant think of a better way to spend a day than playing with dogs... well... if i've gotta 'work' that is...
BIG earthquake in Chile. 7.0 around 25 minutes ago. It's big enough to hit the news. FYI
i dont like earthquakes...at least with the weather you can take precautions... but there's no 'earthquake' alarm.. at least not here in the midwest...
Silly girl-you have an earthquake alarm up there. It gets activated in the spring and fall and is sometimes referred to as THE KC Royals and The KC Chiefs! :)
Understand. I'm just a geo buff and live in southern California where earthquakes are commonplace.
my WHAT bucket list:
Ireland – everywhere and anywhere i can drink a guiness
i'd love to visit the Kremlin – my Grandmother went and i'd like to follow in her footsteps (in more ways than one)
India – Taj Mahal anyone? – my dad lived there throughout his high school years.
Australia – i want to meet a koala NOT in a zoo
Hawaii – just cuz
my WHO bucket list:
Sean Connery – i dont care how old he is...he's JAMES FREAKIN BOND!
(if i could go back in time...) Beethoven
Sean Connery is on my bucket list, too. Along with Al Pacino, Christian Bale, Johnny Depp and Ley Claypool from a little band called Primus.
ooooooo Christian Bale...*shiver* he is fantastic in American Psycho!! it was a tossup between him and Pierce Brosnan... i went for the Irish vs the Welsh. GRIN
You know what I hate? Getting SPAM in my e-mail (over and over and over again) asking if MR. wants some viagra!
I gave 'em you address-it is Valentines remember?
Crap! I meant to send those to Richard. I could have sworn I typed in firstname.lastname@example.org
smarty pants (pun intended...)!
My bf does (ahem) NOT need it and I'm NOT a GUY! aaaaaaaarrrrrrgh!
My top 5:
a. Leave the windows open day and night
b. Break out my sandal collection
c. Drive around with the windows open and the music up
d. Not have to turn on the furnace or the a/c
e. Finally be able to let Thing 1 out of the house to play without taking 20 minutes to turn him into Nanook of the North.
I'll bite for this 5@5....
5 fave things for when the weather is warmer in no particular order: (because of my allergies, I will skip spring and go straight to summer when I can come out of my bubble again)
1) Leaving the windows open at night
2) Swimming and relaxing in/on beaches, pools, rivers, and lakes.
3) Laying out in the park with a good book.
4) Going barefoot.
5) Spaghetti Strap Shirts.
No wonder you are the queen of everything. You are sooo smart! Yes, grapefruit & statins don't mix. Go, Queeny, go!
That was just a little something I picked up in nursing school.
I heard they now have shots for that! Might look into it and quit picking up stuff!
Please DON'T encourage her. It's bad enough in here already without her getting the big head!
here's an example of a 5@5 question: Who/What would be on your "bucket list"?
Now THAT's a new twist....WHO would be on my bucket list.......Hafta think about that.
WHO and in what capacity.......a loaded question if ever there was one.
waiting for RH to appear for this one... :)
I agree. Who would David Crockett list? Or tell me I need to list?
Reserving the right to change my mind because I haven't given this too much thought:
1 Tour Rome
2 Take a Mediterranian cruise
3 Visit SF, CA (at least)
4 Explore castles & ruins in Europe (maybe QOE can offer some pointers?)
5 Visit Austraila
That should cover it for now.
As far as WHO – in no priority:
1 Roger Daltry
2 Simon Baker
3 Willem Dafoe
4 David Tennent
5 Tom Baker
And because we got scolded by our keepers we have our little 5@5 right here by listing 5 things for this and that. Keeps us out of trouble. Sort of.
lol! sort of... more like it gives the boys excuses to come up with interesting ways of interpreting our 'innocent' posts. :)
Oh THAT'S what that's about! Ok, I'll play:
Five TTD's when the weather turns warmer:
1 Put away the watering hoses (we don't have a sprinkler system)
2 Lube up the lawn mower
3 Put away the heavy blanket (only need one)
4 Open the windows for about two weeks before ....
5 .... flipping the thermostat controls over to A/C
I'mmmmm baaaaaaaack....world events and geo politics are so intense.
I think I'm ready for an early HH on the reliable notion that it's 5 PM somewhere.......the quest will be for something I can enjoy without messing up my pancreas anymore........IS there such a thing as a sugar free HH?
If HH = happy hour AND you want alcohol, then, sadly no. Unless there's some mint in your breakfast buffet that isn't really mint and you partake of that. I'm pretty sure it's sugar-free.
Yes, there is! I believe it's vodka and soda water, but did you see my HH cocktail I posted around 2pm? It's pretty amazing.
Thanks to you both! Yeah I saw the cocktail but I'm not a fan of cilantro. But thanks!
THAT'S the other yummy items that was in my free frijoles: cilantro! I forgot about that.
I will make you a special one "The French Grayhound"
St Germain Elderflower Liquer (you can now buy it at ABC, it is light and delish)
Ruby Red Grapefruit
That Evil Grin @ Truth comment came from me...oops.
Point of reference-The Last 5@5 was A TIE between The Queen and Myself and no matter what line of BS she gives you it will be in the record books as A TIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! Truth was the Last single winner and it was well played even tho he is my Brother!
Wrong again, Richard. If you remember correctly, the day that this alleged tie took place on was preceded by two days in which I won...again. Do you not remember the forced seranading that took place or the parade that commenced to mark the occasions? AleeD- Richard is the elder statesman of our group so please excuse his momentary memory lapses. He and I are also best friendsies.
If I remember correctly we were singing with you on our shoulders and parading you toward the bathroom for a Royal Flush! Damn good memory!
Y'all are a riot! If I had a trophy I'd give it to each of you!
I would get the bigger trophy, right?
I say that because I would love to go, but have never been. I also have never been to the fair, but I hear they are fun. Speaking of that area, I really want to go to Dinosaur World.
I went there with my family as a leeeeetle gurl! I'm jonesin' to go to Fantasy of Flight in Polk City.
Asking gently, why haven't you been to either the Fair or the Stbry Fest?
I haven't been to a fair ever, for personal reasons that came from a traumatizing event that happened to my mom when she was little (too personal to go into), so we were never allowed to go. I haven't been to the Strawberry Fest because I never remember when it takes place, and I always miss it. :) I went to Weeki Wachi Springs last year, though, and it was AWESOME!
My condolences for your & your mothers trauma. if you're interested, the S.F. is 3/03 thru 3/13 this year. I haven't been to WWS since I was a little girl either. Who says Florida is boring!!!? :)
The beagle is pretty cute, but I think suffers from seperation anxiety
No wonder you got that office.:) Just another duty for Sara Ellen.
alas, it is true....
oh i love beagles!!! :) i wish we could bring our dogs to work... my boy would nap under my desk and my girl would run around making sure everyone was accounted for.
It's not my dog, it belongs to the receptionist from the office next door. I wish I could bring my dogs to work, as well.
Oh, a couple of otehr tidbits for your information.
Kat and I went to the same college, though her for Grad school and me for undergrad. The irony to this fact is that I am ultra conservative, and Kat, well, let's just say, is not. (but I love her all the same)...
Oh, and we used to have a contest relating to the 5@5 thread where we used to compete to see who could be the first to say if we would/would not "hit it" based on the attractiveness of the person being interviewed. We discontinued this contest at Kat's request after whe took us to the virtual principal's office. I was the last official winner of the contest before we ended it.
Oh, another couple of thing...We posted pics on here last month, and consensus was that I look like Bobby Flay, so if any references are made, that is where it comes from...And if I make any references to "Miss Saigon", I mean my wife. She is a Vietnamese national. And an illegal immigrant as of yesterday, but that is another story.
And my local radio station does three song sets during lunch. I just heard "Scarlet Begonias", "Playing in the Band" followed by "The Wheel"...I am in freakin heaven...!
A trio of Dead! Happy Friday!!!
Were you the winner because you say it's so or because you really were? ;) How did the 5@5 start?
again, should have been @ Truth not s.e.
I so appreciate everyone's patience with my fumble-fingered ways.
5@5 started as so many things here do, kind of spontaneously. I often think that this blog is a great study on human group behaviour. One day, someone attractive was featured and one of the early regulard (I think it was JDizz) made a comment to the tune of "I'd like to hit that", and it caught on. We were later asked to quit it, as Kat would not be able to get people to interview if doing so meant they had to subject themselves to that sort of tomfoolery. Point taken, so we stopped.
Other odd little customs we have here are my posting the word of the day each morning (may as well learn some vocab while goofing off), and the fact that Evil Grin is working on a plot to achieve world domination. His minions do his bidding for him, but can also be loaned out for odd jobs. In December, they assisted with my year end filing.
Oh, and the last 5@5 was a tie between QOE and RHead. I was the last single winner. Thanks for the clarification bro!
Someone is going to write a doctoral dissertation about our bog here. We are in a petri dish.
Excuse me? You were the what? Honeychild, I think you must be going senile in your old age. We all know who won the last contest and it wasn't you. It wasn't Richard either. I believe the winner was a charming and beautiful blonde from Indiana named....ME!
Your NOSE is growing longer ME! We both know it was a TIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!
So who WAS in the posted pix whom you all hit at the same time? Orgy anyone?
it was a different person being interviewed each day. If the woman was pretty, the guys would say "I'd hit that" if it was a guy, then the women would. It was childish and sexist, so naturally it caught on like wildfire here...
5 things to do when the weather is warmer ( I live in Sunny Florida, so I have an unfair advantage of this list)
1. Go swimming in the Gulf (I like my water about bath tempature)
2. beach bars
3.shorts to work (I love small businesses)
4.outside Sunday Brunches
5. go sit in the air conditioning
I hear you're in Plant City. Do you partake of the Strawberry Festival?
I am sctually in St. Pete, and no, I have not been to the Strawberry Festival, but I have intentions of going every year...RH frequents Plant City for work, which is our point of reference.
Oh. Ok. "Intentions" meaning you want to go and end up not?
Hubby & I are probably going to the State Fair this weekend. Cain't hardly wait to get my elephant ear fix! Luv 'em!!! Have you been?
