Chocolate? Champagne? That's soooooo last century. Our favorite (shhhh!) Top Chef All Stars contestant Richard Blais is working his wizardry on V-Day. In the second installment of his weekly segment on our Senior Junk Food Correspondent Ali Velshi's show - hosted today by the always dapper Don Lemon, he shared his method for maximum romance. Here's a cheat sheet with the recipes which, in the words of a colleague who shall remain nameless, "Serving that on Valentine's Day would likely get a guy laid." FYI – this is what he means by iSi. Beet Champagne 3 cups bottled red beet juice Method 1. Combine beet juice and grenadine and charge with CO2 in an iSi Twist and Sparkle 12 raw oysters Method 1. Shuck the oysters and simply place a bit of all ingredients on top Rigatoni with White Bolognese 6 oz veal shank Method 1. In a pressure cooker coated with olive oil, start cooking the vegetables. EZ Bake Microwave Cake 1/2 cup flour Method 1. Combine ingredients in an iSi cream siphon and charge 3 times shaking vigorously. Hop on over to Ali's blog for last week's recipes for Buffalo Sweetbreads with Blue Cheese Foam and much more munchable magic. Previously – Richard Blais: Super Bowl snacks: Now with added science! Isn't that twist 'n sparkly thing just a plastic soda syphon? You screw on a cartridge, dump in the co2 & presto? You can make your own carbonation device for under $10. Check out http://www.sodamaker.biz/diy.php to see how.
WTF is "umami paste"? Is this a Blais-specific ingredient, like Emeril's "essence"?
Thank you so much for having Richard Blaise on the show. Not only is he an amazing chef and fun to watch, but a great role model – kind, altruistic, informative. I've always rooted for him on Top Chef and actively seek out programming that has him featured. I believe he deserves his own food show. I'm not alone in saying that it would be a huge hit! Thanks again.
Wow. I think it will take me longer than an hour to do all of that, but the Twist and Sparkle looked neat. Not sure I would use beet juice, but I get the idea, red sparkling juice for Valentine's. Ahhhhhh. I would probably do Cranberry Juice and Lemon flavoured Vodka, or Cranberry Juice and Strawberry Juice, skipping the vodka.
what in the world is prompting jesus statements? Go home... If I pushed Allah on you you'd be offended and fight back. Cut it out. This is about romance and relationships, Jesus already had his last supper... and your ministry is unwelcome
If you have JESUS in your Life YOU ARE NEEEEEVVVVVEEEEERRRRR AAAALLLLOOOONNNEEEE!
To lonely people out there. Don't yield into wrong doings just because you are lonely. You know what you want is true, lasting love by a worthy person and nothing of outer shells or momentary comfort because you are a valuable entity in this universe. Overcome this hard time period courageously. There's no hero who did not battle loneliness. Loneliness is one of the best teachers in life along with pain. You come to really understand the beauty, depth, and meaning of life by going through loneliness. Seek God and find Him and your place in this world by doing what is right. Don't disqualify yourself for the lasting honor by filling your lonely life with junks or hurting yourself. You were made for a distinctly good divine purpose. Fulfill your destiny in God in the midst of loneliness. Be a man of honor or a woman of grace for all time, in all seasons. Life is a battlefield, not an armchair, but the victory is guaranteed for those who look up to Christ.
Ummm, OK, but what does this have to do with beet juice?
Recipes for romance? It's vowed single-heartedness and courage to protect the beloved!
I saw that- they forgot the champagne! Not everyone had access to the chargers, either. The microwave cake sounds interesting, but again, requires chargers of some sort. Since I use my microwave in innovative ways myself, I'm actually happy, and slighly appalled at the same time that there is a microwave only recipe here!
I'm with you on the Beet champagne...and where was the champagne in this?
Okay, I like Top Chef, and innovation is fun sometimes, but this is craziness. And really, Beet champagne? EEWWW!
Thank you so much for having Richard Blais on your show. I love love love richard you should have him on all the time.Im making this dish for my husband for valentines day.
