Want to talk about noise and recoil... My old 30-06 is a freaking mule kicker. It's fun to shoot but good god the shoulder is sore for a few days even holding it properly.
Yep,I"ve got a 30-30 that does the same thing. Only way to prevent it is padded shoulder protection! Noise-Sonic ear valves and Nascar headphones.
I started many years ago with a Belgium made Browning .9mm. The Company has been sold so many times I think the metal now comes from China so YES,Glock is the Best. Go to a good Indoor shooting range and you can rent all of the above. Just take your time until you find what you want.

I taught my bride to trap shoot last year and she LOVED it. She is still a little reluctant to try my Glock, but I am sure I can start her with a .22 or a .38. She would love the company Taze, so you're in!
I grew up with rifles and shotguns. I'm a decent shot with a pistol and I'd love to get more experience. CA sucks as far as being able to get a CCW though so if I bought one it'd be for home protection and target shooting. I have been eyeing a Glock 30 .45 for quite a while. I'd also like to get a Mossberg tactical 12ga for grins. Ah, if I was rich....
Holy guacamole Your Serious. That .45 will mess up your wrist. Try a Glock 19 .9mm,only takes 2 well placed shots if ya know what I mean. Ya gotta leave something for the coroner to look at or they get real P.O.'d.
I've actually shot it on quite a few occasions and I really liked it. It can be a little snappy but it didnt' bug me. I'm far from petite at 6'0" so I've got a bit more... how to say this... muscle than your average girl.
Still haven't decided what to get, so all the options are open. I do like Glocks and will probably stick with one for my first purchase.
I carry a Glock 30 and love it. I want to start my wife off though with something a little smaller. I just took to a .45, since it was what I had to qualify for in the service.

Not sure if it made the news in your neck of the woods, but CO had several church shootings in recent years. Makes Miss Siagon nuts, but that is why I carry. Between me and several other guys, we usually have a half dozen or so in service most weeks. CCWs are GOOD things.

The subject does not come up much on Eatocracy, but it comes up ALL THE TIME on the Denver comPost website (local excuse for a paper)
I can tell you that having lived the process, it is badly broken, but jumping the border, demanding things and yelling Si Se Puede is NOT the way to go about it. Miss Siagon and I still have to go through at least one more interview before she is final, and we started the process three years ago next month.
Also keep in mind that it took a year AFTER our wedding (in VN) to even get her here. The absolute hardest thing I ever had to do is leave my wife in an airport in April 2007. I got back there only once at Christmas, and then she arrived in Denver in March 2008. Having lived through that, I have VERY little patience for ANYONE who thinks that they deserve special rights. Get in line like everyone else.

She's my ex bf's cat. He left her with me over a year ago when he split, and she's been really iffy with me since then. When I moved to my new house, her and my dog stopped getting along, and it's made her absolutely miserable. The dog sees her as a toy to chase, and she's not OK with that. So she's going to an older lady with no other pets who absolutely spoils her animals rotten. It's a win win situation.

And I just called home and no one answered so either hubby and the boys are at the barbershop or the boys have finally driven him over the edge and he's run away. Either option is ok with me. Ha! Ha!
I didn't know there even were barbershops in business anymore...though there is a place near me that has the female staff wear lingerie. Always though that would be interesting, though I have had the same woman doing me (so to speak) since 2002.

We had two barbershops in our town until recently. One of them closed after the owner and his brother (both in their 70s) retired. The other one is still open though. The owners grandson and nephew just took it over a couple of months ago when he retired.
No, no...there is a lingerie shop near my office, but I have been going to someone else. Ironically, she is a lesbian, but she does a danged good job. Let people do their thing and step in when needed. Offer guidance, but if you treat people like children, they will sink to that level. Enable them to learn for themselves and they will do that as well.

I had two women reporting to me, who both wanted the same desk next to the window. I told them to solve it, or I would. They would not, so I traded that space to another manager. Niether got it.
What I cannot understand is why managers do that to staff...Part of your role as Boss is to develop you staff. That means let them learn, and people learn best from mistakes. It is like having kids. If they are not falling off the bike, they will never learn to ride. In the Marines, we called this Leadership. It works.
Yeah, we called it the same thing in the Navy.
I will probably sound like an old fart saying this, but these younger kids today have NO concept of personal responsibility. The reason they treat us like this, is that many of the kids here would not be able to do their job if someone wasn't sitting there holding their hand. Truth of the matter is, I probably got this crappy monitor because it is at a desk that is farthest away from the boss, and she knows she doesn't have to keep an eye on me. She KNOWS I will do my job, especially after I laid into her at my last review about how noone seems to look at this as work. It is like one huge McD's playland...
That is actually a complement then, so while it is frustrating, try to take it as one. If you are one of the older folk, try to offer ways to either mentor or train new folks. It sounds like the sort of place that is given to turnover. Try to use that to your advantage. Eventually, the cream always rises to the top. (sounds lame, but it does hold true)

Herb Alpert and the Tiajuana Brass, old Stones, Bowie, CSN&Y, Pink Floyd, Yes, Santana, all great album cover art. What a shame the kids these days don't have those. No black light posters still exist, however. All gunked up with bong smoke, I'd imagine. Yes, I did drink the bong water. And anything else that wasn't claimed, either. Unfortunately the patient receiving said implant...ugh. I had a simple crown last July, which then fractured the tooth vertically to the root, which led to an extraction which I nearly bled to death from, then bone grafting which was excrutiating. Needless to say I am petrified to go today...

So, I ended up in court yesterday,
Keep in Mind that I am in Oklahoma.
A gentleman came before the Judge. He was dressed in a white T-shirt and Jeans, rough, unshaven face, and very short crew cut hair. Judge read him the charge (possesion of illeagal Game, White tail deer to be exact.) Turns out, the man had shot a deer that was grazing by the side of his house. Now, in Oklahoma, that is legal IF you get a homeowner's hunting license. That allows you to take ANY animal that is causing destruction to your property. Unfortunately, he did not have said license. Noe, all of this would not have been much of a problem, except one thing...He used an AK-47 to shoot the deer.
Now we have a problem.
The Judge grilled him for a while, and his best response as to WHY he used an AK to shoot the deer was..."Well, you know, it takes a LOT longer to load a hunting rifle than the AK". Judge was not amused.
Baliff was amused. For a minute, I though he was going to have to leave the courtroom.
In the end, he was put on 2 years probation, $750 fine (suspended), court costs, and $750 restitution to Department of wildlife.
Judge in the end asked him if this was the most expensive deer he had ever taken.
He responede, "Yeah, and I didn't even get to keep it."

I don't know what is more appalling...using the AK, the hefty fee, or that all that venison went to waste. What a waste!
All I can picture in my head is some guy leaning out of his bedroom window with an AK in one hand, beer in the other and mowing down a deer in the flower bed. Oh, and right before all of this he uttered those famous words, "Hey ya'll watch this!"
I can also picture this being any number of my relatives.
Yeah, when the judge first asked the question, "Why did you shoot the deer?" The Guy started out with, "Well, you know, it was there...."
Eventually the Judge said, "I'm going to do you a favor, I'm going to stop asking questions so you can stop answering them."
