Pssst! Got a sec to chat?

We are utterly thrilled when readers want to hang out and talk – whether it's amongst themselves or in response to pieces we've posted. We want Eatocracy to be a cozy, spirited online home for those who find their way here.

Consider the daily Coffee klatsch post as your VIP lounge – the primary comments thread for readers who'd like to chat about topics not related to the articles we're running. That way, everyone knows where to find each other, and each post's comments section remains on topic.

'Twas the day before Christmas and all through the lounge, not a Flamenon was stirring, not even JDizz.

So - whatcha eating this weekend? What type of cookies are you leaving out for Santa? Pass the eggnog and discuss, please.

It's Raining:{ Santa better bring the scuba gear. I guess you get used to the 100 + degree temps here. The humidity is a little much in Houston versus what I grew up with in Dallas. Course the Winters are alot better down here and WD likes it so there really are no complaints. AD loves snow-and I love snow cones. Go figure.

Service is a huge part of the process, as we both know, and believe me, I know just how lucky I am...And I really hope and pray that JDizz makes it. Not an easy road, but well worth taking. He seems to have lots of reasons to make the effort, with a young'un and all. If we choose not to live for ourselves, let's do it for the next generation. Not the real reson we should carry on, but all too often, the best reason at hand, you know?

My imagination, or is there a far amount of wisdom in our little talks...?

Agreed on all counts. I am not sure where (if anywhere) I would be without Miss Saigon. I am a very lucky and very blessed man. I wish for you the same, with ADawn or otherwise. I hope NGF gets our brother through this. NOT an easy road no matter what demon is being battled, as we both know.

How is the Texas night this evening? I spent a few nice nights in your town...I LOVE TX and would likely live ther if not for CO.

I'm back. Was AWOL because my PC/laptop froze up. Wish I knew why it does that. Have to let the battery run down so it can be rebooted. What a pain on random and thankfully rare occasions.

Anyway, hope you all have a warm, loving, and very Merry Christmas! WILL there be a Klatsch tomorrow? Christmas day?

HELLO EVERYONE! i've made it to work today!! only had to dodge a few nutballs on the road...and i'm mostly in one piece. dogs only ate one piece of firewood and most of the stockings are still hanging by the chimney with care. Cleatus found his stocking – the bone inside survived, the stocking didnt.

He was diagnosed with prostate cancer in September and until that point I didn't realize how much I truly believed that he would be alive forever. Irrational, I know, especially given the field I work in. Sorry to here about your relationship with your dad. Parental-child relationships are treacherous and rarely cut and dried. Queen, count your blessings. The older I get, the more I realize that your situation in more the exception than it is the norm. The world is poorer for that. Pass that same love and support to your own children and all will be better off.

Jerv, I totally know what you mean. I used to get jealous in church when I saw the happy families come rolling in, especially on the holidays. That said though, I do have one relationship that I truly treasure...I think I mentioned that I used to teach middle school. One of my students had no father inher life, as he was incarcerated. This young lady and I stayed friends and I eventually came to learn the details. Long story short, I eventually became her legal guardian. Today, she has a hubby and child of her own, and is striking distance from her doctorate degree. Truly one of life's subtle rewards are the people who touch our lives. Not all blood is family and not all family is blood.

Good morning sunshines! Just stopping by before I head out to WallyWorld to get some groceries. Somehow the thought of taking a 2 year old and a 6 month old to WalMart on Christmas Eve is not appealing. As for the question of the day, we will be having homemade cinnamon rolls for breakfast Christmas morning, beef roast with potatoes and carrots (courtesy of my mom) for Christmas dinner. On Sunday we will do our family Christmas with all my sibs. We're trying an international menu this year. I got Italy so I will be bringing mini meatballs with rolls and provolone cheese for those that want to make a sandwich.

Good Morning! Christmas Eve is my favorite day of the whole year! We are leaving Santa some cut out sugar cookies that we made yesterday. Lots of Christmas sprinkles on them, thanks to the kids!
Tonight I'm bringing my Christmas Eve soup to my sister's house and I finished my grocery shopping for the most part yesterday afternoon. Gave the husband a list of things he needs to pick up today to finish it off. The market was all out of fresh basil!! So he needs to find me some today, my soup won't be the same without it!!

Suppose so, friend @ work called me about ten minutes before the alarm to get a ride to work. Kinda started the day on the wrong note, but, on the bright side I did manage to get out of Walmart at 11:30 last night, so I guess it all balances out.
(At least I think so, It's hard to think this early...)

Santa better bring his umbrella tonight 'cuz it's gonna be raining down here. For Santa I have an ensemble of Oreo Double Stuff and chocolate cookies plus COLD chocolate milk. I wonder if Santa has Asbestos Underwear so he doesn't burn his "Buns" when sliding down the chimney? Ohh-Fine question of the Day. O.K. gotta unload some gifts for under the tree.
