Has anyone considered the impact these fish would have if they were introduced into the wild? Overpopulation in natural streams could pose a serious problem. Frankenstein wasn't a problem until he escaped...

Actually Frankenstein never was the problem in the story. It was people's fear that was a problem.

This is different though. Up to now we have had some engineered food – all plant and always it has been self reproducing. Thats a good thing. These salmon are sterile. Since they cannot self-reproduce you have to keep redoing the process for every new batch of them. Naturally industry will hire minimum wage workers to do the dna processing. They have to or it would be too expensive. In the lab it may be safe, but not in the hands of people low paid enough to make a profit on it.

The FDA will do more to protect the business than the consumer. We have the right to know what we are eating and labels should be mandatory. Check who runs the FDA though–consumers will not win this fight and 20 or 30 years down the road when we have health problems, this company won't be around to answer for it.....
