Every so often, we're highlighting a local or regional blogger we think you ought to know about. We can’t be everywhere at once, so we look to these passionate eaters, cooks and writers to keep us tapped into every facet of the food world. Consider this a way to get to know a blog’s taste buds, because, well, you should.

Meet today's featured blogger and blog:
Who: Maria and Josh Lichty, Two Peas and Their Pod
Where: Salt Lake City, Utah
Twitter: @TwoPeasandPod

One of my fondest memories is the smell of freshly baked cinnamon rolls coming from my father’s kitchen.  My siblings and I would get excited every time my dad pulled out my grandmother’s handwritten recipe. However, it wasn’t just the cinnamon rolls I remember, it was the entire process.  There was passion in the measuring, mixing, rolling and patiently waiting for the yeast to do its magic.  That same passion has transferred to my own kitchen today.  A little over two years ago, I married my husband, Josh, who also loves to cook. Shortly after we were married, we started our food blog, Two Peas and Their Pod. Our blog is an avenue for us to share our love for food with the world.

One of the joys of being a cooking couple is sharing duties in the kitchen.  We make a great team and always have a good time. We love experimenting with new flavors, ingredients and techniques. Josh usually takes charge when it comes to savory dishes, while I take the lead when baking is involved. We both enjoy eating healthy, fresh and flavorful meals and we always save room for dessert. Cookies are my obsession.  I love creating new cookie recipes and Josh is an excellent taste tester. A few of our favorites include: chocolate caramel cookies with sea salt and Fluffernutter cookies.

Visiting the farmers market is one of our favorite weekend dates. We love blending seasonal fruits, herbs and vegetables from our own backyard with the abundant variety of ingredients that can be found from local Utah farmers. In addition to great food, Utah offers a wealth of outdoor activities.  We both enjoy hiking and Josh is an avid mountain biker and skier. We are fortunate to live in such a beautiful place.

Our blog has become a special part of our lives. We are grateful for our readers and the many friends we have met along the way. We hope you will join us on our culinary journey, our kitchen is always open.

Maria ~ love the article, love your site (which is far from obnoxious & colors are great!), your recipes are wonderful! I love the simplicity that allows me as a crazy busy mom to enjoy them, and to enjoy the wonderful flavors (your pear and honey quesadilla sounds divine!). It doesn't have to be complicated to be fabulous. And um those cookies, well they pretty much rocked our world! AND we made the buttermilk plum cake a few more times and toasted you in thanks! Enjoy the spot light, its been a pleasure to get to know you!

    Congrats!!

I went to check out this blog and quite frankly I'm perplexed. Being a cute couple does not make for a great food blog and this is far from a great food blog. The advertising is obnoxious, the colors difficult to stomach and the food simplistic to a fault.I can't help but wonder what kind of requirements CNN has that would highlight this blog as something out of the ordinary because it is simply ordinary. I'm just not able to jump on what is obviously the 'friends' bandwagon.
