More and more restaurants are feeling the pinch of an uncertain economy and seeking to trim corners wherever they can. Increasingly, reports the New York Post, this means credit card fees. For smaller venues, the percentage paid can cut into restaurant's gross sales so significantly that they've chucked cards and are dealing strictly in cold, hard cash.

I think what most people forget, every time you use your plastic cards there are fees, those fees get passed along to the customer as higher prices. If we want lower prices, start paying in cash again.

After a month of living in NYC i was stabbed, and robbed. had some cash on me b/c in ny plenty of places are cash only and i hate that. so of course i lost all of my cash during the robbery but it put me at so much ease since i was able to cancel my cards. i hate having to go out with cash on me

I never use cash and use cards so I can get cash back or rewards points. Cash only you get nothing back.

You pay for those points and rewards in higher costs for the item that you buy.

I worked doing finances for a restaurant and the fees for credit card charges were a large expense. Despite the inconvenience, I support restaurants who are trying to circumvent this cost.

Cash only restaurant...bad for business because people may skip ordering certain items on the menu if they don't have enough cash.

If they are only going to take cash then they better get an atm installed. I certainly wont make a special trip to find one if Im short cash which is most of the time.

Why not just give the customers an option? Add 4% to the bill if you use a credit card, to cover their card fees.
