"The Child Nutrition Reauthorization Act is one of the most important pieces of legislation before Congress right now, yet so few Americans have never heard of it or understand its impact on our children. As a chef and a father, I am concerned about the chicken nuggets and hot dogs that seem to be the basis for the juvenile diet across America but I most alarmed at what we feed our kids for lunch in the public schools - and at the scandalously small amount of money we spend on each child every day. Today, we spend about $1 per child per day. Imagine trying to feed yourself a nutritious meal with a dollar? A strong bill today of $10 billion or more will ensure we can provide nutritious meals to 30 million kids, helping end hunger and fight childhood obesity."
