While you're frying up some eggs and bacon, we're cooking up something else: a way to celebrate today's food holiday and the most delicious finds on TV.
Almond Butter Crunch Day is a national holiday best described by exclamatory words: Crunchy! Buttery! Chocolatey! Candy!
As if the traditional buttery-sugary-salty(!) mass o' toffee simply won't do - why the heck not cover it in chocolate? And while you're at it: why the heck not roll it in crushed almonds?
Christmas in July came a few June days early.
What's on TV?
Food Fest - QVC, 3 p.m. ET
Kill the afternoon with a little infomercial shopping of ready-to-eat foods.
"Hot Dog Paradise" - Travel Channel, 6 p.m. ET
Looking for fun in a bun? Search out the great American hot dog.
"Hell's Kitchen" - FOX, 8 p.m. ET
Wherein the contestants reinvent a wedding menu, make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and fall victim to a streaming line of Gordon Ramsay's expletives.
"Cupcake Wars" - Food Network, 9 p.m. ET
To celebrate the 100th episode of "Ace of Cakes," star Duff Goldman is a guest judge of the dedicatory cupcakes.
"Dinner with the Band" - IFC, 10 p.m. ET
Chef Sam Mason serves up dinner at his Brooklyn loft - with a side of Theophilus London.
As we all go about preparing to celebrate National Almond Butter Crunch Day let us not forget that on this day in 2000 the "Plain" M&M Officially became the "Milk Chocolate" M&M. So some time during our family gatherings, or perhaps while hanging the decorations or singing almond butter crunch carols pause and reflect on just what a sad, sad world this would be if all it contained were "plain" M&M's.
