Definition: To heat a liquid until it begins to turn into a gas, i.e. steam. To simmer something is to keep it just below the boiling point. A rolling boil is when the surface of the liquid is racked with a tumult of large bubbles and heaves vigorousy. A gentle boil is when the water is full of relatively subtle motion and gives off small bubbles
